Best reliever as Closer or Keep_It_Opener
The traditional use of the best reliever is as a closer. Closing somewhat close games (3 run difference) my team is already winning in the late innings (9th inning or perhaps 8th and 9th).
I have been moving away from that strategy. Using my best reliever when I am losing a close game. Using my best reliever earlier in the game, facing the best part of the opposing team's batting lineup. Especially when their is a significant threat the opposing team is likely to strengthen their lead. For example, with a runner in scoring position. I think of this as my "Keep_It_Opener" role for a reliever. Using my best reliever in this spot keeps my team in the game with a chance to take the lead and win later. I started be a poll for an earlier thread others were replying to: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=283083 Last edited by jmknpk2; 11-20-2017 at 09:35 AM. |
