Contract Purchase Price for Independent Leagues

Hi All:

Longtime lurker/player of OOTP, but first-time poster!

I've been testing out my next dynasty — one I actually want to write about — and am having a problem figuring out something. I was wondering if someone here might be able to help.

I'm introducing some independent leagues circa 1903. The default indy league setting has $250k listed as the contract purchase price. That seems a bit high for 1903.

When I set it to like $1K, my main league started purchasing players.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with what to set this price at and how much to increase it by as time goes on.

I searched the forums and saw one post, perhaps it was from OOTP's creator, that suggested the price of $250k was set that high to discourage the AI from purchasing too many players. But, unless I'm wrong, at that price, no player will be purchased in 1903. So it seemed when I tested it out (could have missed a transaction possibly).

In any case, any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Go to league settings > financials > and it's way down on the left under financial and free agency settings.

Allow players to be purchased by other leagues for:

You can set the amount in the box.
