Interesting OOTP Article

Saw this, oddly enough, when I opened the Google app on my phone. It usually has articles that I may be interested in.

Well, I guess that is the way things are going. Speaking only for myself there is no way in fiery hell I'd buy into that. I have less than zero interest in online gaming of any type. But as long as it does not change what they are doing with the core game then I certainly wish them every success.

I think as long as there is no take-away in the game itself, it's a huge winner. OOTP will need to go to a cloud interface at some point.

I'm with you. I will always be a downloader by preference. I'll give you two basic reasons:
  1. As much as I admire, love, and trust OOTPD, too many times in my gaming life have I seen online enterprises suddenly disappear. I will never give up the last downloaded version of OOTPB, should they ever decide to go totally "cloud."
  2. I NEVER want to be in a position of having to depend on a local utility for anything. It's bad enough that I must use the cable company's service for my interaction here and to acquire OOTPB in the first place. But to rely on them for consistently fast speed without interruption? Yeah, right. When the cable goes down, I can always turn to playing OOTPB (yes, I know about the "calling in" aspect so don't bother to remind me).
Attitudes like this make me a technosaur. So be it. I'm also congratulating myself on not being one of the folks who are willing to pay $1,000 for an iPhone X.

Us old farts should not begrudge Markus and Co. any opportunity to increase the revenue stream.

An additional option like that would be wonderful. If it means replacing and eliminating the historical stand-alone downloadable game, I'd give a thumbs down (but I doubt that's the direction OOTP would head).
