Assistant training

I don't like fiddling with training myself so I set it to assistant. Sometimes after getting a development report I'll set the roster page to show training to see who exactly is getting training focus from the assistant and there will not be a single box checked for player training. I can then go to manager options and set training to manual then back to assistant, and if I go back to the roster and select to display training there are now players showing as being selected for training.

I'm unsure if this is just a visual thing or if the assistant training option is actually costing player development. In case it is relevant, I'm in the off-season right now.

That's likely why - no coaching assistance during the offseason months, if you check again after the season starts, it should be setting the training normally at the beginning of each month.
