Question Question (new to OOTP) re: custom league/team/roster setup

Hi all,

New to OOTP (though not new to baseball games/sims). IF the 2 'scenario' questions to follow have been fully covered somewhere already, my apologies for missing it in search.

First... let me just say "wow!" about how much OOTP has improved, advanced, expanded, etc. (all meant in a very good way) from when I first heard of OOTP many eons ago. WTG OOTP developers and the OOTP community!

[Scenario # 1] A baseball "what if?" type project (one of many I'd love to do) that I have always wanted to do is to go through the entire playing careers of MLB players (retired as well as current)... looking at various players... select what I think is their single best career season (for example, looking through the baseball playing career of 2B Joe Morgan and pulling out his 1972 season stats, repeat for other players past and present that would have different career season years, thus not all players coming from the 1972 baseball season year)... and, using that player's season/year (and corresponding season stats etc.) and place them on a team roster in a league... repeating the same process to fill up a team roster (or entire league). Is this possible to do with OOTP?

[Scenario # 2] With OOTP, I would like to be able to take the exact same player (from the same season) and be able to place that player on 2 different teams within the same league (example, playing with a friend and we both want the exact same player on our respective teams). Is this possible to do with OOTP?

Many thanks in advance.

If you're in commissioner mode, you can right-click on a player to clone him. Change his name to Joe Morgan2 and you're good to go. I don't think that the clones will age or develop identically, though.

My "Scenario #1" Question - does anyone know?

@ cavebutter --- Many thanks for the reply regarding my "scenario #2" question, I appreciate it.

As far as my "scenario #1" question goes, to clarify, this would only be for a personal fantasy league project type of thing, if that matters any at all. Does anyone know whether "scenario #1" (see my original post above) is do-able using OOTP?

Both are possible. They will both take some your on your part.
Look in the manual for "import player". You can import players based on the year they played. I am reasonably sure you can import the same player from multiple points in their career.

There's also an "All Time Greatest" quickstart you might be interested in, where a lot of that work for scenario #1 has been done for you.
