Personnel All Vacant. Ast GM not managing
Hello,
I did not want to spend time with the hiring and extending of the mang, pitch and hit coaches for my ML team and all the minor league affiliates. In my Team Control Settings > Control & Auto-Play settings, I had my Assistant GM delegated to: *Sign fire Team Personnel *Sign Fire Minor League Team Personnel As the season ended I received letters noting that various coaches left the team/organ because they never received extensions. By December I noticed that practically my entire personnel were vacant across my org. After a number of wtf moments, I played on assuming that the Ast GM (who remained on staff with 3 more years to his contact) would then hire personnel before the next season started. As spring training came, I looked and the organization was vacant of coaches and managers except for a couple who had more than year to go. Thank you in advance for telling me what the heck happened and why the delegation of hiring and maintaining staff is not working by my "AI Assistant GM" |

Can you post a screen shot of your team settings to see if the community sees anything weird.
Also I wonder if the box to not allow AI changes is checked, that has happened to me before. That box will supercede the other options. |

Curious ... staff/coaches/personnel are not "roster" items. Do you think it is possible that even though staff personnel are not considered part of the "roster" that having "Prevent AI from making roster changes" could cause staff personnel not to be extended and/or hired even with vacancies? Yes, prevent moves will prevent all moves by the AI.

if you want more control but the ability to delegate, make use of th GM-Legace Option checkbox in global settings.
"prevent ai... blah blah " stops EVERYTHING even if it is detrimental to the functioning of your team... like a 2-man rotation when you need 5 per the settings. it won't do anything at all for any reason. and, if you ignore "prevent" and "any" it could definitely get a bit confusing ![]() that setting should just be removed... it's just gm-legacy mode with severe drawbacks. if you don't delegate, you essentially get that option as a result... seems redundant or at least a "leftover" Last edited by NoOne; 10-03-2017 at 10:00 PM. |

One thing I've started to do when I notice that I have a hard time signing minor league managers and coaches is converting former players into coaches. I did this with David Ross when the Cubs had a hard time finding minor league managers. I made Ross into a manager and I also did the same for John Baker. It's a last resort when I am not able to find any managers or coaches to my liking, but just a suggestion.

Can someone help me with this very topic.
I took over an expansion team in my fictional league, named myself GM and hired an Assistant GM to basically handle the minor league functionality. I gave myself full control to promote/demote players on the active roster. When the season ended - a lot of my minor league coaches were not retained - and up until almost opening day - they still hadn't been hired. I unclicked the box to allow AI to make roster changes and managers in the minors were hired; but now decisions on the active roster - and transactions are being made. How do I stop this? Can I not have one without the other? If I can't have an Asst. GM - that's fine --- but I want to play this game where I make the decisions on the ML level, and I have never had a problem in past versions with this, do I have a setting off? I have also placed it to Legacy Option and players are still being moved - and I am not doing it. For example - I drafted a player in the Rule V draft, and I wanted to keep him. I simulated through spring training and thought I would control the opening day roster - well that didn't happen and the Rule V pick was returned. Help!!!
