Have you guys ever done this...?
So... it appears my commish powers go to my head... from time to time. After completing my 10th season in my 16-team Fictional League, I've decided to completely revamp the ratings for every single player in my league and in the minors. I'm doing this in-game too because I don't know how to do it otherwise, if it's possible.
The reason? Over the years I've edited basically every player's ratings, including new players coming in to the point that I have a whole army of cybermen playing. What I mean by that is, despite there being some discrepancies, every player is mostly the same. They are all robots with no personalities. The best hitter in the league looked like this: BABIP - 190 Contact - 240 Avoid K's - 205 Gap Power - 195 Power - 195 Eye/Patience - 190 And one of the lesser (power) hitters: BABIP - 160 Contact - 180 Avoid K's - 165 Gap Power - 160 Power - 165 Eye/Patience - 155 No one strikes out a ton (except rookies). No one walks a little. The stats are distributed alright but my highest ranked player was 60 overall and the other guy was 45 overall. I went overboard. So, as a result, I took to looking at the MLB 2017 roster ratings and figured out a good range of ratings. Now I'll have big power, high strikeout guys along with big power, high walk, low strikeout guys. It's been a massive undertaking and I've revamped the pitchers ratings too. Some might just restart their league over but I didn't want to do that. I want to have a league that lasts a long time. Anyone else ever do this to keep a league going? Or am I just obsessed? ![]() ![]()

Let's see...
I edit the real players on each team, (eventually) doing all those who played in the majors, are on the 40 man roster, and are in the top 40 prospects for each team and the draftees. Then scanning through their minors and dropping ratings for those who are in the minors who are sub top 40 prospects, etc. It takes a few hours on each team. I also drop the random talent change drastically, so they stay on their expected paths, minus the intelligence, work ethic, experience, etc. Very tedious work, I did this 3 years ago and remembered doing this as being more enjoyable, lol. But the end results were worth it.The best part of doing this is that, I get to know the draftees and top prospects that I would never have known if I didnt force myself to do this. So to this day, when watching baseball I see prospects playing and think, oh yeah, I remember these guys from my Ootp 15 playing and fiddling. |
