Delete the News ?

What will deleting the news folder information ruin in my league.
Does it only delete news headlines or does it delete stats ?

I have over 60 Gig of news feeds.

for one season or a career I delete old news every January 1st.
I know you dont want to delete the entire folder. i can;t tell you which one to delete just to get rid of news. I'm in September and mine is only at 4.2 GB

keeping none or 3 years of news etc will not cause any problems with career stats and such.

there's settings that will do this (Global Settings or the near vicinity)... less messy than deleting files from folders. the sqlite file is connected to the wind-dressing stuff like news. deleting may or may not reduce size. it will be at least 150-250mb, or so, normally, i think.

side effects, maybe?: i think when you look in history of players with more than "3 years", or your settinsg choice, in their career, you may see some funky info or have links that don't quite make sense - relative to "news" links and info, not their career stats or anything. maybe that's from enabling "delete those that don't make mlb" i can't recall at this moment. (that has this effect, for sure)

other ways to save space -- make sure pictures are generated on demand. most computers will barely flicker as a profile loads the first time, but thousands at a time can be noticeable. so, you save a bit of time and space. if not important to you, turn it off as i do. with real players i may turn it on here and there.

Also, look into what "needs" to be generated per game. if 'it' can be rebuilt with a boxscore, for example, it doesn't need to be generated as the games are simmed. this will also conserve space and time without any repercussions.

not sure what will happen if you change it from all to another setting if that would delete your news.

if it doesn't reduce size after the next january 1st cycle (you sim from dec 31 to jan 1 etc.. assuming that's when it does maintenance.. if not it, "then".)....

do a complete backup (make a new location if worried, but do a "full backup" if it's a new location or you will lose more news than the settings allow)

then, restore. it should be nice and neat and small now. re-load logos if needed.

I seem to remember it being the first day of the offseason. Might be misremembering.
