Odd saga - Team chemistry/storyline bug?
I play a fictional league with fictional players. My team is the Brooklyn Rollers.
Before the 2023 season I signed a pitcher named Josh Waldrop to a two year contract. The first season was fine - Waldrop did OK, not a peep about him. Then, in 2024, my team was seriously underperforming - the pre-season prediction, for what it's worth, was a 100 wins; I'm currently in July with a 48-58 record. As the season progress, Waldrop was involved in two incidents - one where he fought with a fan, another where he fought with the manager in the dugout. After the second one, I immediately traded him to the San Diego Surfers. During this whole time, Waldrop never appeared on the team chemistry screen as a problem in any way. Then I get the message below in my mailbox. This makes no sense to me. Waldrop is no longer on my team, and hasn't been for weeks (the other player, Jiu, is on my team). Moreover, I wasn't even playing San Diego at the time. So I have a couple of questions: 1) Are there certain players who are bad eggs who don't show up on the team chemistry screen as such? 2) Could Waldrop's attitude have been a reason why my team has been underperforming so badly? This should have theoretically improved a bit after I traded him, correct? 3) Is it possible that some glitch has made the computer think that Waldrop is still on my team, and therefore still affecting team chemistry and performance in some way? |

You might just be getting the news message because the other guy is on your team

Believe the 'other guy' was in the dugout, meaning San Diego. But if it's just general league news in a storyline, it would show up. Did the OP have only personal messages set as a limiter? I don't think so.
Yeah, I see now, it's just BNN news. Effectively, it went to everyone.

I do not get general league news in my mailbox.
The way the story is worded though, it's as if Waldrop is still on my team, or as if my player (Jiu) is on San Diego. Why would they be fighting in the dugout if they were on different teams? They weren't even playing each other at the time (my team was playing Detroit, San Diego was playing Philadelphia). They had a fight in the dugout despite being in different cities? Ultimately it's a small thing, and maybe it makes no difference, but it's odd as hell. |

Do you have him shortlisted? There's some criteria that allows it to deliver to your mailbox. Neither player mentioned is on your team. Both are Surfers, by my read.

Waldrop is not shortlisted.
Jiu, the player he fought with, is on my team. He's been on it all year. I mentioned this in my OP. It's almost like whatever code is generating the storyline never registered Waldrop being traded. |
