association playoff help
I mentioned this in another thread, but what I have going is a created association that has 8 leagues involved. I want to create a 16 team modified double elimination playoff for the association, and every season will be different. It will always be the regular season champion, plus the winner of the playoffs in each league.
The seeds will be done as such: regular season winners will be 1-8, playoff winners (or playoff runner-up if regular season champ wins the playoffs) will be seeded 9-16. With this set-up, I am unable to seed the teams until all 8 of the leagues conclude their playoffs. This seems to be where I am running into a problem, as it seems that as soon as all my league playoffs end, the association playoffs automatically begin, and I don't have time to seed my teams and place them the way I want. It's not going to be the same every year, so I can't just set something up and leave it. (For instance, in one league, the 6th place team in a league won the playoffs, and the next season, the 3rd place team in that same league won the playoffs). So my question is, is there a way to set a start date for the association playoffs? Or is it possible that I can just disable the playoffs at the start of every season, and then after the league playoffs are concluded, I can create my playoffs every single season setting them up the way I want? Or if I have playoffs disabled, will the season automatically end after all 8 leagues have concluded their playoffs? I'm just trying to figure out how to do this. Am I just missing something here? Has anybody done anything like this before? let me know, thanks. |

Can anybody help me out with this? I tried to create the association playoffs after all 8 leagues had finished with their playoffs, and nothing happened.
Next time, I will try to have the playoffs created already, and then as soon as the final league finishes their playoffs, I will hope that it doesn't lock the teams in and that I can change them. I don't remember having this much trouble with any previous versions. I know I'm not doing something right, I just don't remember what it is. |

Hmm wait what about this...set one of your leagues to finish after the other 7. So you'll have time to custom set the first 7 leagues. However you'll have to sacrifice that 8th league since once their playoff is over the association playoff starts and maybe make it the 8th and 16th seed regardless

Just in case you haven't figured it out yet...
Don't finish the day on the last day of the last active playoff series to qualify for the Association Playoffs. If you do that, the AP become active and there's nothing you can do. That day is the key of the whole Association playoff set-up. (Remember that the AP always start on the 2nd day after all Leagues seasons are completed.) Instead, play/sim the final game(s) of the final series to decide the League champions. Then, once your 8 champions and 8 regular season champions are set, go to the Association screen, set up the AP, seed the teams and confirm. Once you're happy with it, advance to the next day. You'll then see that all games now appear on the participating teams schedules. And you'll be able to change the dates of the games in the league's schedule editors too (time consuming, but it can be done). |

No problem, glad to have been of help.
One more thing though, but I'm sure you've noticed already. If you don't set the AP seeds all at once (e.g. save and exit the screen before seeding all teams), they sometimes reset which can be frustrating. It's better to have it written on paper (old school ) or stored in a file that you can easily refer to at the same time.
