Damn, talk about a dominating presence on the mound
Steve Milligan was a 3rd round pick by the Houston Astros out of high school in 2031. A 6'7, 230lbs right-handed force, he absolutely baffled opposing hitters with a nasty changeup and plus curveball to go along with his fastball. He unfortunately underwent Tommy John surgery in July of 2049 and missed a full 12 months of action. When he returned, he was never the same again and had a miserable 15 starts in 2050 before bouncing around as a reliever in 2051. This appears to be the end of the line for him. Without question a first ballot HOFer in my books.
Damn this game and getting attached to the careers of pretend players! Milligan: - Won the Triple Crown 6 times - 5 of which were consecutive. - Completely owned the Cy Young award, claiming 11 in 12 seasons - 2040 being the only season he didn't win from 2037 through 2048. - Was named the AL MVP 7 times. - Was named to 13 different All-Star teams. - Has 5 World Series rings - 4 of which were with a Tigers squad that completely ran the Majors for a few seasons. - He lead the Majors in strikeouts for 12 straight seasons, topping out at 345 in 2044. - His WAR of 134.5 places him 5th all-time for pitching behind only Cy Young, Walter Johnson, Roger Clemens and Clayton Kershaw. - His 4300 strikeouts also place him 5th all-time behind Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens and Clayton Kershaw. - He interestingly enough never agreed to play for the USA at the WBC despite being active in the Majors for 4 of the tournaments.

Pretty amazing stuff. Has anyone seen a pitcher come close to nolan ryans strikeout record? It seems like this guy could've done it if he wouldve had 5-6 more solid seasons. It doesn't seem you see pitchers in the game stick around till they are 44-45 like we saw randy johnson do for instance. Nolan ryan stuck around till 46. If anyone has a graphic of a pitcher lasting that long in the game under normal settings I would love to see it and the type of career he had. If this is just something that doesn't happen anymore in the big leagues then I guess no one will break nolan ryans record. But definitely would like to see some guys last to 45-46 I don't remember seeing one.

Nolan Ryan had longevity and he pitched a lot of innings with good strikeout rates. Guys do not put up the amount of innings every season like he did, so his strikeout numbers are pretty safe.

I actually usually do this. In my leagues I like to rename the awards for fictional players. I always wondered if other people do the same.
