1 Question, 1 Complaint, and Many Compliments

OOTP 18 is awesome! After buying it about a week ago, I have found that it gobbles up more free time than a fat man can food at an all-you-can-eat buffet! I think that I am addicted! I imported my version 17 league into the game, and I think that everything went smoothly. If only I could find a way to topple the powerhouse St. Louis Farmers in my fictional league! Anyway...

Question: Lets say the AI releases a major league caliber young player, and that player goes on to sign a one year deal with another franchise. This player has less than 6 year service time so his contract (lets say $1 mil in a modern MLB environment) is automatically renewed. Is this correct? Are contracts exceeding the minimum supposed to be renewed?

Complaint: So the game crashes. It happens. I get it, but does it have to rub it in my face? The game crashed in late August of 1975 in my custom world and reverted back to July. I was a cotton headed ninny muggins. I should have saved, or done a backup, or changed the settings of auto-save. I understand that, but I don't understand how the game remembers my transactions during that time. Lets say I trade a SS named Luis to the Farmers for a SP, call him Corey. Game crashes, and Luis is back on my team but he has a St. Louis jersey on. Corey isn't on my team but has my jersey on. UGH!

Compliments: The bullpen screen in 3d is convenient and sleek. I admire the 3d in general. The team chemistry and a limited personality system makes managing more realistic. (No one in real life can tell if Freddie Freeman's work ethic is very high or high. Ok, his is very high, but everyone else...). I thank Markus and the whole staff for putting out such a great product yet again!

I suggest you change your auto save fr5om one a year to daily or weekly. - League Settings - Global settings.(I can't draw an arrow)

I folded a league after teh 2026 season. i signed a clone of Yogi Berra. he will make $1.3 mil in 2027. Auto renew at 1.3 in 2028 then is arbitration eligible after that.

The reason for this is pretty simple, based on the way OOTP handles its files. All image files like player pictures, logos, etc. are stored in their own folders for the game to easily locate them. So, when you traded Luis to the Farmers, the game created a new picture for him, wearing a Farmers jersey, and overwrote the old file in the pictures folder. So any time the game needs to display Luis's picture, it pulls the image from that folder. Now, when the game crashes, none of the game files get saved (obviously), but the picture files have already been updated and saved separately. So when the game is re-loaded and it looks for Luis's picture again, it finds the picture of him it has saved (in which he wears a Farmers jersey) and displays that. That picture will continue to be used until the game is forced to update it again, either because he switches teams, or because you manually regenerate the picture.
