Facegen Not Initialising

I have had all sorts of problems with OOTP18 since I bought it and installed it yesterday. The latest is Facegen not Initialising.

So how do I initialise Facegen?? I have bought OOTP since OOTP9 and have never had this issue before.

are you on a mac by any chance? i've noticed my facegen's not showing up in the profile when i'm changing the resolution

The first thing would be to make sure your video card drivers are updated.

Drivers are up to date. These are the screens I have got from Caps Viewer.

Have never had these issues with OOTP before

Just copy it from the screen in the utility.

I'll get the devs to take a look at the file.

I can definitely understand this is frustrating, but ultimately this is unlikely to be a bug or an issue with the game as such, it's most likely a matter of your having an older video card that isn't up to handling the latest OpenGL, likely because the maker of the card hasn't added the proper support for it in a patch.

We can check the file though and will know more after that.

Yeah, but things change and are updated with each new version of the game. Some of the OpenGL programming is different in OOTP18 than in OOTP17.

Have you tried what Markus suggested in the thread I linked?

"playing around with the OpenGL settings (Game Settings -> Facegen & 3D tab), you could try setting the "Open GL Shader Mode" to "Disable OpenGL shader" for example, this will ensure the game works with older systems that only support OpenGL 1.4. "

Basically, try each of the different settings under 'OpenGL Mode' and 'OpenGL Shader Mode' and see if any of them make a difference.

Ok, so it looks like we'll need another log file from you to try to figure out what's happening.

Here's how to generate it:
-Open the game and click on Settings.
-Now click on the Troubleshooting tab.
-Finally, click the drop-down menu that says "Don't write OOTP debug info to file". Change it so that it will be "write OOTP debug info into file".
-Click OK and then exit the game.

Once Trace Mode has been enabled, follow these steps to generate a trace file:

Launchthe game, then quit it. Then open it again and click on Settings, then on the Troubleshooting tab. Next, open the folder called "debug". Finally, find the file called "ootp_trace.txt" and attach that here.

After you've done that to disable trace mode, simply reverse the initial steps above. It's important to disable this since the game will run slower with trace mode enabled.

It looks like you're missing some needed files for facegen to function. It may be that that something went wrong with your install.

Can you do the following? Open Steam and right click on OOTP. Go to 'properties' > 'local files' > 'verify integrity of game files'.

Then Steam should download and install any missing files.

Let me know if that helps or not.

That didn't work either. Got an error message as I loaded the game "startup - facegen disabled:myfacegen->init() failed"

If facegen isnt working I doubt the 3D game will work either and that was a feature I really liked. Think I will chalk it up to a bad purchase
and maybe not buy another version until I buy a new laptop. Will free my time up for FHM4 researching.
