Problems with ootp 18

I have ootp 17 and it runs well. A few glitches but nothing major and not often. A few days ago I purchased OOTP 18 and it is very choppy in the presentation and frequently freezes. Any suggestions?

Are you specifically talking about the 3D presentation?

just a highlight of the larger resource hogs:

Before you change ootp settings, check your vide card settings - AMD's vid card is called Catalyst or Crimson something now, if new. nvidia ? intel? intel won't have many options for you, but google them and make a good choice. usually presets for "performance" etc vs quality may be good choices... don't go hog wild with any of these things or from thread... try one at a time until it works well.. and if quality dips too much, there's likely an alternative.

"openGL triple buffer" is one thing you may want to look into, that is likely not default "on."

in-game stuff:

anti-aliasing... turn it off and see if you notice...

FPS (frames per second)... there is a setting for this now. check manual for exact location.

for reference, you watch full motion video that is ~24-~30fps all the time. matching your refresh rate ("vsync") is best for quality, but if your hardware can't keep up with that rate, setting it under is best. "30" will be full motion, maybe occasinally you may see some tearing, but maybe not, too.

i'd reduce this type of stuff before any reduction in texture quality -- which is a resource hog too, but the "ROI", so to speak, is better.
