Toronto Blue Jays Franchise (2017)

Hey guys! I've been away from the forums for a while and have been having some trouble trying to build a dynasty that interests me. With the Jays recent troubles in real life I've been somewhat motivated to try starting a new Jays franchise as GM and Manager and build a little more of a respectable season. I apologize about abandoning my old one but I think I'll be able to stick with this one. I hope everybody enjoys! I'll post soon to get things started. Go Jays Go!

As the pitchers report for spring training the owners down at Rogers have decided to go a different direction from the Shapiro-Atkins-Gibbons trio that has run the Jays the past year and replace them with one man. This man is Sam Lucc who will be taking over as Manager and GM of his hometown Toronto Blue Jays and hope to make Rogers proud by bringing them to the promise land. Here's to hoping for an end to the northern boys 24 year drought.

2 big transactions have taken place in Lucc's first weekend under head office to solidify his team heading into the 2017 season.

First off, the Blue Jays have acquired left fielder Ryan Braun, reliever Neftali Feliz and a Prospect from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for Anthony Alford and JB Woodman. Two prospects who are far from being able to have an instant impact in Toronto. Braun can add some speed and definite power in a ballpark like Rogers Centre and Feliz helps solidify a very questionable Blue Jays bullpen. As for the prospect Luis Alves, here's to hoping he can replace Alford within the Blue Jays minor league system.

Secondly, the Blue Jays organization is proud to have reacquired via free agency 2B/3B Brett Lawrie. He will be asked to be a utility man in Toronto this year and maybe play positions he hasn't in the past. As for his fiery attitude, the Jays hope he keeps himself at bay or he won't be able to stay with this tight knit group for very long.

The calendar turns to April and the bleachers are set to fill on opening day around the major leagues. The Toronto front office has been hard at work building the 25 man roster that they believe will begin the journey towards a World Series title in 2017. Notable absences to the roster include names like Dominic Leone, Ezequiel Carrera and Mike Bolsinger. Although it's hard to see those players start in Triple A it may just be a testament to how deep this Blue Jays roster really is. For now we prepare for the opening series battle with Baltimore that lies ahead.

The time has come... Toronto Blue Jays baseball is here and our ace Aaron Sanchez (0-0, 0.00 ERA) takes the hill against Kevin Gausman (0-0, 0.00 ERA) as we look to get our season started on the right foot!

Sanchez goes 8.1 in Jays Opening Day Victory

Aaron Sanchez was the hero in an encore to an absolute stellar 2016 campaign. He went 8.1 innings giving up just 4 hits while not giving up a run in the process. He ran into a little bit of trouble in the 9th before Osuna preserved his perfect ERA and picked up his first save in the process.

Donaldson provided the only offence with 2 RBIs coming off of a Solo home run early and then an RBI-single later in the game. In total, he totaled 2 RBIs on the night.

Jays will look for the sweep of this two game series following a day off in Baltimore.

The Jays look to build off of a great opening day win as Marcus Stroman (0-0, 0.00 ERA) goes to the hill against O's righty Dylan Bundy (0-0, 0.00 ERA) in their respective season debuts.

Jays Blank Orioles Again

Roberto Osuna left the winning run at the plate as he helped clean up Marcus Stroman's 8 innings of shutout work to help preserve the 2-0 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. The Jays have shutout the Orioles in all 18 innings so far between 3 pitchers.

The only offence came in the 7th as Devon Travis hustled down the line for an infield single with two outs to score Tulowitzki and then Ryan Braun brought Travis around all the way from first to make it 2-0.

The Jays improve to 2-0 on the season and now head to Tampa to start a four game set at the Trop.

Jays slide past Rays with late game heroics

Souza came up to the plate in the 5th and broke the Jays 22-inning opponent scoring streak with a 2 run home run. That made it 2-1 Tampa Bay after Travis picked up his second RBI driving in Pillar in the top half of the inning.

Neftali Feliz made his debut with a clean 1-2-3 7th inning for the Blue Jays.

In the 9th, Martin came to the plate with two outs and a man on and ripped one down the right field line to make it 4-3 Toronto. Osuna would then allow Souza to tie things back up with an RBI single in the bottom of the 9th. This marks Roberto's first blown save of the season.

Bautista would drive in Travis in the Top of the 10th with a 2-out RBI single to make it 4-3 before Biagini closed things out giving him his first save of the campaign.

Estrada (0-0, 0.00 ERA) goes to the mound as the Jays look to expand on their perfect start to the season against Chris Archer (0-1, 1.29 ERA) in Tampa.

Morales, Smoak lead Jays to 4-0 start

Estrada was solid enough to lock up his first win of the season as the Jays won their fourth straight game behind strong bullpen showings from Howell, Feliz, Smith, Loup and Grilli.

Most of the offence came off Smoak's three RBI night including a solo shot and a three run shot in the top of the 9th by DH Kendrys Morales. Bautista and Martin also picked up RBI-singles.

The Jays will look to pick up back to back series wins in game three against Tampa Bay.

Jays improve to 5-0, Rays fall to 0-6 after latest clash.

Liriano had pitched 7 gem innings before Roberto Osuna, who is struggling early on this year, blew his second consecutive save. Things would head to extra innings 4-4.

In the 11th, Morales drove in the go ahead run before Smoak picked up 2 of his 3 RBIs on the night with a base hit. He has a team leading 6 RBIs on the season now. Bautista and Martin also picked up RBIs once again tonight.

The Jays will look for the four game sweep of the Rays tomorrow night in the series finale.

Injury Update

OF Ryan Braun was injured in last nights game against the Rays. He is returning to Toronto to receive an MRI. Steve Pearce will take over in left field for the time being.

The Jays look to tie the 92' team with an 6-0 start to the season. That would be best in team history. Sanchez (1-0, 0.00 ERA) goes to the hill to help in achieving the history against Jake Odorizzi (0-0, 1.29 ERA).

Odorizzi cools down Jays bat as Toronto loses first game of 2017.

The best start in franchise history will have to wait one more year.

Sanchez had a start that at times felt dominant but ended in him giving up 7 runs before turning the game over to the bullpen.

RBIs from Martin and Bautista were all the Jays could get along with a score on a wild pitch. This loss sends the Jays to 5-1 on the season. A healthy start.

The Jays will now head home and await word on Braun along with a day off before hosting Milwaukee in a home opener.

Ryan Braun returns to the lineup as he is day-to-day with a groin injury. He will play DH in the home opener as not to disappoint the fans who will pack the stadium later tonight that are ready to watch the teams new addition.

Stroman (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will get the nod on the big stage that he loves so much against the Brewers Jimmy Nelson (0-1, 10.38 ERA).

Both teams sit first in their division coming into tonight.
