new update 18.6.61
Just played a few games and love the added 3D anis. Already saw some plays made more exciting. Like the improvements very much. Found the yes-no option for the relief pitchers getting tired. Thanks. Everybody at OOTP does awesome work. Very much appreciated. Keep those surprises coming.

Thanks! Matt and Jorin did fantastic work on the diving/jumping animations. In my opinion they really add so much to playing out games.

I'm not sure about that...

Any chance a checkmark box can be added to add ALL nations in the IAFA next update? You know, instead of manually checking them all one at a time.

Agreed. The best one I've seen so far was the groundball in the hole between 3rd and short. The thirdbaseman dives and misses the shortstop dives and misses and the ball goes through for a base hit. Nicely done.

yes/no option for RP getting tired? great news!
will probably still play with the option on, but it's a start.

I was just thinking the other day about how nice diving/jumping animations would be, to the point that I went back from short PBP to full PBP -- even though it was a little off still, I loved getting to know when my fielders were making web gems out there. This will be awesome!
I also thought that a bullpen widget might be coming, and I'm glad it is. I think I will start using the warmup rule now. |

I'm not certain, by any means, but thought I read someone who just recently used it indicated it wasn't necessary to use the rule to benefit from the widget.

Yep, you don't need to use the warmup rule to use the widget/popup. But if you were not interested in using the rule because it took too much effort to remember who's warming up and manage the pen, then the new stuff should help a lot with that.

It would also be nice to be able to copy those settings from one place to another. |

I see they did not fix the BUG on the career/season leaderboards - whereby you can no longer SORT the field. That's a major loss of functionality. Is there any intention to fix that?

On my end, I've seen a fielder not dive in animation, but the PBP says he did and then I saw a fielder dive in animation and the PBP just reads as if it was a routine fly ball.

Thanks for the comment, but even in actual broadcasts the visuals don't always line up with descriptions of the event. I particularly like the usual look, then having the PbP say something on the order of 'that really was an exceptional catch." Adds a bit of reflective comment on defense.

So, with these changes in place, are you all still using short PBP, or did you switch over to detailed? I'll check it out myself, but not until after work, so interested to know what you all are using now.

When we first came out with the 3D, the text simply did not match up very well with the action that I thought it was distracting. But over the last year, we've made enough changes that it now seems somewhat rare that the detailed PBP does not accurately match the play on the field. And in many cases, the detailed PBP just adds that extra bit of colour to the play that it's truly complementing the 3D. |

Speed is more personal preference. While watching in 3D, most text gets delayed until the action it refers to, so there won't be a huge difference between the speeds. Also depends how closely and how fast you read the text

I have found myself needing to check on relievers between every batter to make sure they are not getting 'tired', and even needing to check and sit relievers during longer innings by my own team at bat. I realize different pitchers need different numbers of warmup pitches to get loose and ready, and will get tired at different rates. However, this is something pitchers and bullpen coaches handle on their own in real life. You see it countless times - a pitcher warms up, gets loose, and stops or slows down his routine until needed. If they have stopped warming up hard, they can then get 2-3 pitches in when actually called on to be ready, plus their pitches on the mound. A manager does not need to call his bullpen between every batter and make sure a guy isn't wearing himself out, or tell someone to stop or slow down when his team doesn't go 1-2-3 at bat. Like I said, I enjoy the overall aspect of the warmup rule, but I don't think the 'tired' portion of the feature is accurate or works correctly. Not a huge deal, but it can get annoying and it does take longer to play out games that you use multiple relievers in. Just my opinion. Not a bitch, really, but possibly something to look at and consider. |
