Proof positive the Wilpons are clueless
So I am guiding the Mets through the 2019 season after starting 2017 with a full fantasy draft. Reached the first round of the playoffs in '17 and '18. So I'm doing ok.
Fred Wilpon, the Mets owner, tasked me with acquiring a "power hitter". So I go out and get Mike Trout in free agency. In my mid-season assessment, Wilpon, in all his wisdom, says... "I see you did listen when I asked you to go out and get a power hitter. While Mike Trout may not be exactly who I had in mind, he's close enough. Still, I know there are guys out there who fit what I asked for a bit better, so I'd suggest you still keep your eyes open, though I'm not upset with Trout." When I got this bit of wisdom, Trout is the leading all-star vote getter for all positions, with a line of .289/.412/.625, leading the NL in HR and RBI, second in runs scored, slugging, walks and OPS, 3rd in total bases and 4th in WAR. So, basically, I'm supposed to be looking for...whom, exactly?

Since there is no method to reply by email I write an open letter to the owner in the League Newspaper asking him whom does he have in mind, along with a one week time limit to either list players or shut up. I like putting in a catchy headline like....."GM (Name) Calls Out Owner Over Stupid Emails". Knowing that will catch the eye of every other GM and Owner out there reading the paper makes me feel a lot better.
Freedom of the press is a great ally when either the ego needs a boost or a reduction of the blood pressure is required. Last edited by Klaus 74; 06-10-2017 at 03:17 PM. |

Pretty sure that the game uses the true ratings of the player to judge goals like that. I hink power guys refer to players with over a certain true power rating. Can't remember what it is tho

simple solution: uncheck owner goals
![]() the requests are rarely for the betterment of the team... it's a handicap, really. real solution.. just keep winning and i don't think they will ever fire you. you'd have to poke and prod to learn what you can get away with oer 1 year, 2 years 5 years etc. |

If you wait til the end of the season his assessment might change. I had the same thing happen with Miguel Sano...in the middle of the season he was just "closest match" but at the end of the year the goal changed to being fulfilled.
