My best moment ever in any OOTP
Just had the greatest playoff series I've ever had that I can remember.
My 101 win Oakland A's vs. the 87 win Diamondbacks in the World Series. We're the better team on paper but the DBack pitching staff is so deadly. We struggle heavily never taking a lead in the series and eventually falling down 3 games to 2 coming back home for game 6. We win game 6 because of some finally clutch hitting after not getting it earlier. In game 7 we face one of the best pitchers in baseball and the same pitcher who shut us out and struck out 15 earlier in the series. The D-Backs take an early lead and our offense can't get anything going early. We finally get our first hit, a solo homer and that wakes the offense up. We eventually get 4 off this pitcher but my own starting pitcher is struggling giving up 4 himself. I bring in my ace starter out of the bullpen and he goes 3.1 innings giving up only one hit and striking out 7. We take the lead 5-4 going into the top of the ninth only to have one of my best relievers blow the lead and now it's tied going into the bottom of the 9th. With my 8 hitter up he gets a single. I debate whether to sac bunt with the 9 hitter and eventually decide to do so and get the runner successfully into scoring position. With my lead off hitter up (a homegrown catcher who is an on base machine that I put there in the ALCS because our regular lead off hitter was struggling) he rips a single down the left field line to walk off in game 7 of the World Series! The stress and agony of this entire series was so great and then to finally come through and win game 7 with this team was so special. Especially seeing the entire game play out in 3D was incredible. I was sweating bullets the entire game and actually went crazy when we got the walk off hit. Seeing my team comeback after getting shut out vs the same pitcher earlier in the series and seeing my first round draft pick catcher get the walk off hit was incredible. I promptly gave the catcher the nickname "The Hero" following the game. It's these types of moments that make this game so great. Definitely the best series I've ever played in OOTP and I just wanted to say that this game is incredible and I don't think any other sports game has ever given me this type of feeling ever. Had a fictional league last year where I went 9 games for the World Series. Team was up 4 games to none other team won 5 straight. Every game something wild would happen to give them a win. It was Amazing.

Awesome, I hope to have some of the same. Currently in 2019 in my tigers franchise I made it to the playoffs for the first time (starting in 2017), and now playing against Seattle in the AL Championship. I'm going to need a miracle though cause I'm down 3-0 with the next two games in Seattle....

I've played a lot of simulations over the years. Up until this past week, I would have said that a single game by Gil Hodges, as I was simming a Brooklyn Dodger dynsty through the 1940s and 1950s, was my greatest moment. He had a single game where he came to bat five times with the bases loaded. The result? Two home runs and three doubles leading to 16 RBIs. Then, in the top of the ninth, he came to the plate for the sixth time in the game with the bases empty and two out. He hit a solo home run to give him a final line of 6 for 6 with 3 doubles, 3 home runs, and 17 RBIs. I've never had a player hit four home runs in a game.
I have had three no-hitters, though. One was by a turn-of-the-century pitcher named Frank Kitson. The other two were by Don Sutton in a 1970s replay, one in the NLCS. But the greatest experience I've ever had playing a baseball simuation through hundreds of seasons came last week replaying the 1888 season in my Brooklyn Dynasty. Brooklyn was down by 15 games in August. They were down by 9 games in September. They rattled off a 10 gqame win streak in August, and then they finished the season witha 15 game win streak to take over first place and win the pennant. Then came the world series when my All Star shortstop Dave Drew hit back-to-back walk off hits to win two of the games. The series ended up going seven with my ace Charlie Buffington throwing a shut out to win game seven. I blogged about it here: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/board/blog.php?b=2453 |
