2 hit Shutout & not Player of the Game
When you pitch 2 hit shutout with 15 strikeouts for a 97 game rating, and you still don't win....

Let me say, he should have been the player of the game here. I think had a batter done like Rendon did a few weeks ago and hit 3 HR and have like 10 RBI in the game, sure, you'd have a case. And I certainly understand in a 16-0 game giving a little less weight to the pitcher's contribution, but 2 hit shutout with 15k should win out over a guy who only had 4 singles in the game.

In case you're wondering, it's my AAA team and they're STACKED with prospects I've been developing for awhile. I wanted them all to come up at the same time, so there are some that should have already been in the majors. Needless to say, they're in first place in the AAA

Which is why I think it'd be a good idea if we could have the option to adjust the player of the game if we wanted. |

Man, that Oahu to Cape Cod charter flight must be brutal.
Or, as it's AAA, maybe a long bus ride? ![]() |

4 for 5 with 4 RBI and 6 SB makes a pretty good case vs. a 2 H, 15 SO shutout.
What's up with the Oahu lineup? It looks like only one player had any previous at-bats in the league.

The pitcher also went 4-6 with a double, 4 RS, and 2 RBI.

The other night, one of my pitchers threw a no-hitter, but wasn't named player of the game. He gave up an unearned run in the bottom of the ninth -- the other pitcher, who gave up 8 hits but got the shutout, received player of the game honors. (It was also the biggest game of the year for my team, but that's another story...)

Yet another reason that Player of the Game should be able to be chosen, at least in Commissioner mode. I will champion this cause!! ![]() |

That's always a good problem to have, when you have 2 really highly qualified players for POTG. Beats those games where nobody stands out and it can be almost random who gets it.
4-for-5, 4 R, 4 RBI, 6 SB against a 2-hitter striking out 15 while walking and hitting 1 each, also going 4-for-6 with 4 R and 2 RBI at the dish Can't really go wrong either way on that decision. |

I had a pitcher go 4 for 4 with 2 HR and all of the RBIs who didn't earn the player of the game a little while backr. He had a mediocre game on the mound (gave up 3 or 4 runs in 7 innings but did get the win), so I'm not sure how much offensive contributions by pitchers really matter.
That said, I think it's kind of a toss up in your situation. It's hard to give a pitcher the player of the game award in any situation where his team wins by 16 runs unless he throw a no-hitter or breaks a bunch of records. |
