Best way to decide where my team is lacking?
What is the best way to go about deciding where my team is lacking by position?
Is there a report that shows this? |

Seems to me you could look at each group of players ie OF IF Catcher RP and SP and assess their stats and future development. The operating principle is to trade from surplus acquire from deficit. Make sure you know what's coming up from minors and when you'd expect them to be MLB ready
The tool for this is to determine where you are with respect to other teams. Is your defense poor? Low HR? Good bullpen? Insufficient SP? Does my team match well with home park and division rivals. For example don't adopt a small ball strategy in a HR park. Match your pitching more to opposition in your division than your park. Once you have the answer to these and many more issues, use these answers to inform your acquisition and draft strategy. Reconsider loyalty; trade certain players who may be good performers if you have a good replacement in order to get value back in a weak area. There is no single "report" for this. The object of OOTP is to manage the strategic direction of the organization.

Use the "position overview" chart on the "Meet the Team" page (tab under your team's home page).
If you go to League Reports Home and use the dropdown to "select league report", you can get the full chart for this, which is called Positional Strength by Position". The full chart shows all of the teams. |

I usually go to "team home page" and look at how I rank within my league. This is usually the best way to address what part of your team is below league average, and where your team is succeeding.
If you notice that you rank high in home runs, but low in OBP, go through your team and see which players aren't walking enough, etc. You can look for defensive liabilities by going to fielding stats, and looking at zone rating. |
