Thumbs down Owner Deathpool

So,

It is May 18, 2017 in my game.

Two owners are already dead. Their sons, who are named after their fathers have taken over the family business.

The over/under is 6 for the season.

Markus and gang, this is silly. Fix it.

Owning a franchise is hard.

Why? It adds realism. Play out the rest of the season and we'll see how many owners die. Those two must have been in an interesting underground baseball ring or something.

I disagree that it is dumb, I think it adds some realism to the game.

Ok.......

How often do owners die? Once every few years? Less? More? The last few versions of this game, as I recall, at least 2 die a year.

Tweak it or turn it off.

I play out all of my games so only get in 2 or 3 seasons per version. Since this feature was added I have not had an owner die yet.

Same here...I've played out every game in a 2017 league over 2 years and haven't had any owners die.

it's definitely not a problem. it is realistic to have owners die. sometimes you get 2 in a season, sometimes you go 10 seasons without one.

Agree. I have gone through five seasons and had one owner die and two sell their teams. Not unrealistic

I think the most I have had die is 2 in one season, then I went 3 season without another one. Sounds like you are just hitting that random story more than others. But I have to disagree, it is realistic to have owners pass away.

There should be a death cap option, next to the salary cap.

In all fairness, there are a number of "realistic, true-to-life" features of the game I have found that really aren't that realistic. The number of injuries, the number of trades, the number of studs who turn bust, and the overall number of HR's (too high), are not realistic. And I, too, have noticed that the life insurance industry might want to stop selling life insurance to these owners.

You change the setting on low for injuries and I went on a three week stretch where I had an injury a day from some player in the organization. You change the setting to low for trades, and I still get 1-2 trade offers a day - even after the trading deadline passes (what's with that?). You change the modifiers for HR's to mean less HR's, and I've got three players in the league with 50+ HR's, and my stud ace pitcher leads the league in number HR's given up. I also went back and counted and I've had seven owners die over three seasons.

All that stuff happens in real life, no question. Just not to that extreme. I don't know. It seems at times that the AI has a quota that it has to meet, where a certain number of "events" have to happen in a certain amount of time. Just wish it were a LOT more random.

You can trade after the deadline, the players just have to clear waivers.

I've also noticed that if you have set up team needs on the trading page, the AI will offer you trades, or ask you if you want a player, MUCH more frequently.

I hated when (as the Indians) I lost 3 of my 5 outfielders in a span of 2 weeks....and the one I sent down to Triple-A also got hurt.....and then 2 of my starting pitchers went down as well in that time frame.....oh wait, that really did happen.

Here is the list of real injuries through today.....looks pretty on par with the amount of injuries in the game

Well you lost all credibility when you say injuries on low are unrealistic because there's too many

Injuries on low is essentially normal. Do normal and you'll have a third of your team out for the season.

I've only had one owner die on me. But who cares, the owners are probably the least important and influential aspect of the game. You can win the world series and they'll still get mad at you for not dumping your overpaid right fielder.
