Tim Tebow

2018.. Nimmo (starting RF) goes down in Spring Training. Done for 3 months. I see the Yankees have Brett Gardner on the trading block. I have trade setting set to hard. I just traded 30 year old farmhand Tim Tebow for Brett Gardner.. the kicker... the Yankees retained all his salary and so he is playing for me for free... wow

You think Gardner was just a malcontent?. Probably was rejecting demotion (saw he was on the roster) but not on the spring training depth chart... Yankees just wanted him gone I guess.

I've seen this type of thing all too often with it on. That's why I turn it off. If a player gets to be angry, they get put on the trading block. Once there, AI teams will take almost anything to do the deal, including with other AI teams.

IRL trades of players because they just want out are rare. And even then the teams don't just give them away. This feature either needs to make it much more rare for a player to get angry enough to be demanded to be traded OR tone down the effect of it once on the trading block and still demand something reasonable in return.

Just another example of any feature that you turn on the AI handles it way, way worse than almost any human (with the exception of kids I guess)

Yeah the AI has some difficulty regarding players on the trading block. In my Red Sox game the Angels put Pujols on the block. I ended up trading for him with the Angels paying 100% of his entire salary for a Single A prospect.

The fact that I paid nothing for Gardner was comforting when I released him as he did not want to go down to AAA

Then you lost Tebow for nothing. God will not be happy with you.

He stunk in his first year. My AI played him in AA. he did play in the Arizona fall league but nothing special. When I traded him to the Yankees they've put him in rookie ball so we will see what he can salvage. Hoping my dumping of him does not put a hex on my season. Although I did notice that after the trade Cespedes went down from 4 1/2 stars to 3 so that ain't good.

In my last sim before the newest patch, he ended up getting let go by the Mets after Spring Training and signed with Bridgeport of the Atlantic League during the 2018 season and had a decent season with them before signing a minor league contract with the White Sox and is in Double-A playing LF for them in 2019.

I'd be curious what your AI trade settings are.

On this trade block issue, I was just reading a historical note on solid catcher in Boston who when asked why the team consistently under-performed in the playoffs, basically called-out a few of his team members. He was quickly traded. It happens.

Yep whenever a reliever is on the trade block, 99% of the time you can offer 1 dollar and they retain 100% of the salary and they still accept

I have a question for the developers. How did you guys come up with Tebow's ratings, when he didn't have recent statistics?
