Preventing Game from Filling Rosters with Fictional Players
I know I've found this before, but for the life of me I can't find it this time around. I have created a fictional league with imported historical players--originally everyone from 1900 up to about 2010 who had played in only one game--a Cup of Coffee league. After a couple of seasons I unwisely decided to allow fictional players in the league when I created a minors system so my excess players could have something to do rather than "practice" on the reserve roster. Well, a whole bunch of these fictional players ended up in the major leagues and were taking time from many historical players, so I decided to delete them. However, the game seems to insist on filling rosters with fictional players. I have no problem with my minor league games being played by Jim Unknown and his many clones, but I do not want those fictional players fouling things up. How can I prevent the rosters from being filled?

there's a box to check (i think on historical tab, or rules - not certain and i'm not at my game to look) that does not allow fictional players from making it to the majors.
another box would allow ghost players to fill your minors .... the rosters will look less than filled, but the game will progress because of the ghosties. - probably better and other options, but these are a couple i thought of in passing. good luck.

It's these two options. If you click the first one about ghost players, the second one blocking fictional players is grayed out. If you don't use ghost players, however, the option to block fictional players from the majors is available to click. It sounds like you want this arrangement, though:

Thanks!
I do, in fact, have the "ghost players" checked. I shall have to see if this works, but just today (without my having checked or unchecked this option) I ended up having to delete more fictional players. Perhaps there were some hidden players I didn't see, and they got put into the rosters again. It was only on I think two teams so perhaps I just didn't catch everyone.

There's something else, maybe. When you choose to import historical rookies, there is an option to disable the Amateur Draft to assign them to historical teams. If you do use the draft, however, I am wondering whether the game generates fictional players to fill up the draft rounds that you specify. I would think not but if so, you may want to keep an eye on this and edit the draft pool accordingly.
