Sabermetric Glossary
Still getting into the whole GM thing and would love a one-stop-shop for moneyball-type information. Is there a easy to understand glossary, either online or in a Kindle book, that explains each of the advanced stats? I'm math-challenged, so I'm not really interested in the formula of how the stat is derived, just what they mean in player performance terms.
Thanks! |

Thank you for the tip. I checked site and, to be honest, I was a little overwhelmed. What I was looking for was kind of list that defines the sabermetric acronyms. On the other hand, I downloaded Keith Law's book "Smart Baseball" and I am learning interesting things about the new statistics. Most helpfully, it hasn't been too math heavy. I'm still looking for a list of statistics, acronyms and their explanations, though.
Thanks again. |

It looks like I found my glossary in the first place I should have looked, here:
http://m.mlb.com/glossary Along with "Smart Baseball" I should be able to gain an understanding of the more advanced statistics. Now all I have to do is learn how to apply them to the game! |

Wow, I didn't see the glossary tab before. Great! Now, some OOTP veterans please give your opinions on which of these stats works best for player evaluation in the game, in a value for money sense.

Hi, can you please explain what (SB/1B +/-) is and how it is calculated?
