Player rust
Is ther a risk of players getting rusty if they don't start for some period of time. If not, shouldn't you start the better player until they get tired.

if they are off the 25-man roster for 14+ days, they can accumulate rust, and it will be relative to how long, too. longer time off, more time needed to knock off rust.
if you don't have minors, simply having them on the 25-man roster is enough for them to be knocking off rust. you dont' have to play them, although i can't confirm if it speeds up the process, but i don't believe so. i am assuming if they are injured and on the 25-man, not that this would come up often for most, they still need time? serious injury (cannot play) trumps being on 25-man, so to speak? the idea is if on the 25-man they are practicing, working out, etc etc. so, you don't get rust in ootp if a bench player doesn't play for a month -- unless this has changed in '18, i don't recall reading anything. |

I don't think it has changed in 18.
My understanding is that being on the reserve roster is the same as being in the minors as far as development and rust. However, inactivity due to injury does create rust regardless of roster status. |
