Player Class - "Sparkplug"

I was on the Team Chemistry screen for my team and noticed I didn't have a Sparkplug on my team. So I figured I would want to keep an eye out for a guy (to acquire) who is a sparkplug. Not knowing what would make up a sparkplug, I figured I would go to each team's Team Chemistry screen to look at a sparkplug type player.

That's when I noticed that not one team in my entire league has a sparkplug on their team.

2 questions...
1) What makes a sparkplug type player?
2) Why aren't there any sparkplugs in my entire league?

When I imported my OOT17 game to OOTP18, there were no sparkplugs to be found anywhere. But when I started a new game in OOTP18 there were plenty of sparkplugs.

So, no retroactive sparkplugs, I guess, but I suspect they will be generated as my newly imported OOTP17 game progresses in 18. (Can't confirm this yet though)

I still don't know what the effect is of having sparkplugs on the team.

The use of spark plugs in games like NBA 2K is when the player comes in to a game they instantly give a lift to a team, so I would assume they would do somewhat the same thing or something similar, like you trade for spark plug and nobody is cold any more.

My guess is that a sparkplug is like a guy who starts a rally.... you know, losing by 2 in the ninth, leads off with a double, gets to 2nd and gestures dramatically to the dugout, then 2 batters later someone hits a 3 run homer to win the game.

Basically, a guy who motivates his teammates with his inspired play.

it's just another label for various personality traits, like team captain, or cancer.. it's probably wiser to focus on the positive traits like work ethic or intelligence as just 2 examples, than worry about the label or missing a 'type' of player.. if they've made it more sophisticated than just the net effect on team chemistry / morale, i haven't read about that. (when they say 'drop in the bucket' description of morale -> net effect positive or negative when it's all accounted for per smallest increment of time that they update it)

i'm not saying there aren't specific benefits that certain types can provide, but it's due to the traits that make them that label, not hte other way around. so, if a sparkplug is encompassed by other types, you really do have a sparkplug, but a 'better' one too. (assumes this would have to be encompassed by somethign positive for obvious reasons) ... e.g. a team captain is a fan fav, or meets those qualifications, too. (total guess but i'm sure the situations exists)

as far as type:
something along the lines of a fan fav.. i was dinking around with some personalities the other day. a sparkplug turned into a fan fav after i increased a few thigns - unfortunately i was not paying enough attention.

high desire for winnign i'm sure - but do not recall what he was. although that was not something i improved... i can't recall if i bumped work ethic or intelligence..

if personality is one of the things we can filter, it will be easy to pick them out. even if it's visible as a 'view' with no filters, at least you can sort alphabetically and find it easily enough. not sure if that's possible

I guess my main concern (which was my question #2 in my original post), is why there are no sparkplugs in my entire league?

I hope this is not true.

I so despise dramatic gesture guy. I despise it even more when dramatic gesture guy has some preplanned gesture....think Jerod Dyson. I actually think God himself dislikes it as well and that's why Dyson will always be a bench hugging substitute. Oh would someone tell those kids to get of my lawn

1) A specific mix of personality traits.
2) Because no players with that specific mix of personality traits exist in your league.

No, not even close.

All of the personality types are merely descriptive, and there is no special ability bestowed by it. So, for example if you see a player with low leadership, high greed, and a poor work ethic, you can guess he's not going to be terrific for team morale, whether or not he's quite so bad as to be carrying the "selfish" tag.

Similarly, a "sparkplug" is just a specific kind of noteworthy personality. They're good to have around, but you won't suffer by not having one, and there are other guys who are just as good or better to have around that carry no tag at all.

but this was imported? and when you start a new game in '18 you do see them...

sim ou tto next year and see if their personalities "update"

it's also possible that these lables are defined in the game itself... you may need a new game for them to be active and used?? total guess there, i don't think that would be the case, though.

but, you see it in one and not the other, so either the genesis or the import is the only difference between the two, correct? than 1 of those two things is likely causing it.

Maxim's Dad: "Our last name of Smith is far too boring. Let's make a new last name."

Maxim's Mom: "How will we decide on what it will be?"

Maxim's Dad: "Let's just dump out a bunch of Scrabble letters and see what we come up with."

::dumps letters out::

Maxim's Mom: "What does it spell?"

Maxim's Dad: "Mo..go..vos...ko...boy...nikov."
