Take Me to Your Leader
... wait a minute. I thought we had a leader here somewhere.
I'm just getting started with OOTP18. I imported my OOTP17 game and discovered that my former team captain is now just one of the guys. I peeked under the hood and found that the underlying personality ratings are still the same. Very interesting. I've also noted that there are no Very High or Very Low ratings for personality anymore, just High Normal and Low. I like that many (all?) of the young players have the personality category of Unknown. And with the individual ratings now less specific, it's harder to predict what category they'll end up as. I see that there is a personality slot for "sparkplug" on the team chemistry page, but there are no sparkplugs in my entire universe. I'm guessing that these must be the rarest of the personality types, and wondering if they would then have a greater effect on the performance of the team if they ever do show up. All and all, it appears to me that there has been a lot of work done to improve this aspect of the game. I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out once I actually start playing the game... |

I share your interest in this topic.
My OOTP18 team captain is my 3B who sat out the entire previous season with an injury. Meanwhile my OOTP17 team captain, whose pitching in the post-season propelled us to our first WS win in several years, is now a "leader" but lost his captain spot. 25 games into new season and team chemistry and all seems to be just fine. But it does seem odd that my OOTP17 team captain/team hero lost his captain spot. |
