Playing on Multiple Computers
I just purchased the Steam version of OOTP18, and I was hoping the save game files would be stored at Steam such that I could seamlessly switch between my two Macs. That does not appear to be the case. Is there any way to do that, perhaps storing my saved games on Dropbox?

I have read that people will move files with drop box. It is probably a file
size issue more than anything else.

Yeah, file size is a problem. I have a modestly-sized saved game (32 teams, 5 levels of minors) in its' 7th season and the league folder is taking up almost 9GB of space.
On the bright side, the saved games compress pretty nicely. Also - I'm not sure if the Steam version is different, but the direct version allows you to set a custom data path, so you could use an external hard drive and do that. Or you could get really crazy and do stuff with junction point so that OOTP doesn't even know any different. With that last one, move your saved game where you want it, open a command prompt as administrator and enter something like this: Code:
mklink /j "C:\Users\You\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 18\saved_games\saved_game.lg" "e:\saved_game.lg" Note that you have to use the "/j" option, otherwise OOTP won't recognize the link. Not necessarily for the faint of heart, but it does work. Last edited by eriqjaffe; 03-31-2017 at 11:50 PM. |
