My Tournament Mode Hopes still alive!

I've been talking about, suggesting and hoping for the ability to create tournaments for many versions. See here

What Markus and Company has put into the game is amazing in it's own right, It is really great for what it is. But I am personally very disappointing that it is so limited in it's scope. My initial dream was to have the ability to create tournaments with any Historical, modern and/or custom teams available. A system that accessed the Database where one could have a Tournament of teams in a particular league, or of all-time great teams. I hope that someday I will be able to hold a pre-season Tourney in any of my leagues or have a Tourney where I can select any team from MLB history, or even an entire tourney of nothing but Yankee teams . (I hate the Yankees, I just use them as an example). This is surely the next logical step, and it is where I would have thought it would have began, but obviously starting with Real Tourney's was the direction it went.

Here is to hoping that some day Tourneys will be all encompassing and include the ability to use any actual team in a league file, or any Historical Team available in the Database!

I agree. We now have historical exhibitions. We now have Tournaments. We're almost there.

I would like to see the option of having tournament games count as regular season games.

College basketball has tournaments during the regular season that count as regular season games.

In OOTP 18 - can I create a league of 64 historic teams, then create a tournament from that league?

as far as I know you can't select the teams in a tournament, only the player pool(s) that the players are drawn from for the teams. So all the players would be from those teams, but they would not be on their specific original teams

You could create a league with a regular season schedule of like 1 game then select that all teams make the playoffs. Correct?

A tournament is just another version of a league that draws players on loan. It runs group stages as a regular season and then playoffs.
I dont play historical so I could be wrong but can't you already set up a league with historic teams say the '69 Mets, '27 Yankees, '16 Cubs, '19 White Sox etc. Just keep the season short and go into the playoffs. RR, Double Elim playoff modes are there. They arent exclusive to tournaments.
This seems like what youre asking for. Does the feature to add historic teams into a leauge not exist?

Was hoping for a pre-season tournament to replace Spring Training, but small steps!

P.S - Can I get advice on a tournament I tried to set up. None of my leagues have minors, so I created a 32 team winter league, affiliated one team with each side in the competition and set a one year of major league service time limit. I ran this tournament twice and both times every player selected was a temporary. Is it because even though I set it to be players from all levels the teams in the league don't have minors yet?

I had the same thought this morning. I was going to have a 64 team league and play a 120 game schedule for "seeding" and then have all teams make the playoffs.
