From excitement to dissapoinment

I am a newbie with OOTP, been a strat-a-holic from the 60's but wanted something different and saw all the great write ups on OOTP so I thought I would give it a try, already have my strat season. So while playing around on OOTP I see the WBC and I truly love the WBC, so I clicked on it to play an exhibition game, excitement filled the air UNTIL I saw the rosters or should I say the ficticious rosters...why can they not use the REAL players ?
I was very dissapointed and quickly changed my mind about playing it. I don't understand why the real players couldn't be used..any ideas or reasons as to why?

there are real players. did you start a new standard 2017 game or 2017 quickstart? either of these will give you real players for the WBC

Honestly I am not sure where I did the game. It's new and I am just roaming the site trying to get familiar with the game set ups. I am glad you told me that though, I will eventually find it. Thank you for your response and help...

there is an online manual if you are not very familiar with games in general.

keep it open in background, alt-tab between ootp and it... or make each window a little smaller and both visible at same time.

i'd just stick to a standard setup. you may want your first league nice and simple - uncheck extra international leagues etc... (keep the minors, of course)

The MLB has the actual players but none of the WBC teams are the real players.

They should be. If they aren't it's a bug.

How are you creating the league this is happening in?

I am going to do the update one more time, but I have just gone to the setup for game and even the quick start. I will post back after the update DL's again.

In the MLB quickstart, the real players should be on the WCB teams 100% of the time, it's not even a question of setting up the game right or anything, it should just happen automatically. That's true whatever update you're on.

If it's not happening, it's a definite bug and we'll need more info to figure out just what the problem is.

I think i can replicate it, but it's not a bug per se.
On March 7th, when the game starts, all WBC players are on the reserve squad on each national team.

By chance, if you play an exhibition that day, computer will fill active roster with ghosts players instead of putting real players from reserve to active roster.

And those ghosts players will stay on the squad.
