SQLite Error - Start New League

Hi,
I have attempted to start a new league under OOTP18 using standard MLB quickstart. The program goes through all the setup steps and then pops this message "Error, could not initialize SQLite database! When I attempted to open the league, I also receive the message.

I've FTPed my league files to the indicated location and named them "OOTP_18_New_Game_SQLLite_Error.zip". In addition to the .dat files, I've included the temp folder with messages about SQLite.

Note that I have moved my saved league folder to an SDD drive from the default location.

Update: I restored the save game location to default and was able to create a new league. Looks like the issue is related to the use of SDD drive. Maybe a permissions issue. I use the SDD for faster read/write and to take the load off my primary HDD to increase it's lifespan. I had no issues running my league off SDD in OOTP17, but it was created in OOTP16 on standard HDD.

Any help would be appreciated. Respond if you require more information from me.

Thanks,
Malor

Generally this happens when you have a non-basic ASCII character as part of your name in the data path.

The way to work around this is to use a different data path.

To do so, open "Game settings" -> "Experts" tab and select another data path for OOTP like for example c:\ootp18

Then restart OOTP and it should work.

I'm sorry about that, I know it's kind of a pain. I'm not really sure why the limitation exists, it's not at all optimal, but unfortunately it does for now.

Let me know if that works for you or if you have any issues.

Lukas,

The path is "K:\OOTP18 - Primary Save Location". I will remove the dash and see what happens.

Thanks.

That's 99.9999% likely to be the issue

Lukas,

You were correct, that was the issue. I never would have thought of that solution since I use dashes in the folder names all the time.

If you want another challenge. I opened another thread yesterday about a Sign/Release bug I found while watching a league I was simming.

Thanks for the great support!

Thanks!

I'm taking a look at that now, looks like one for a bit later once we get the bigger issues squared away.

Improving the ai is always a big challenge, especially since specific settings play a big role in that. We always do a ton of work on it each version, but something stupid always crops up with it

I would say we'd definitely want your league files though, when you can get around to posting them.

I understand. It is definitely not going to be a simple UI fix.

I would never have spotted it my regular league because I normally don't check the other teams transactions when I play. I was following the Cubs to see how the AI handled the team and was surprised to see that issue. I bet if you check the logs, there are other occurrences for other teams.

Thanks,
Malor

Hi, I Have the same problem but the data path does not contain an ASCII character.
My path is D:\Jeux\Steam\SteamApps\common\Out of the Park Baseball 18.

I get the error everytime I save. When I try to load my league when I launch again the game, it says the save is corrupted.

Ok, so that's probably not from the path, but something is corrupting your saves, which will lead to the error when you try to load them.

So first try restarting your computer. Once it restarts, shut down everything running in the background at the same time as OOTP. Then make sure to run the game in admin mode.

To do that, go to the directory where OOTP is installed and right click on the OOTP18.exe icon and then go to 'properties' > 'compatibility' you can select the option to 'run this program as administrator' on that screen and then every time you start the game it will automatically run in admin mode.

Is the game able to save without errors after that? Let me know and if not we can go through some more troubleshooting.

Thanks for taking the time to answer me. I did what you suggested and it did not work. I wonder if re-installing the game could make a difference.

What's the path to your 'my documents' folder and the OOTP files there?

C:\Users\[my name]\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 18\

My first name has "accents" é and ô (I am Québécois/French-Canadian). I guess they are the culprits? Can I change my documents' name without causing problem elsewhere? Is the ASCII situation new? I never had problem with it before with other OOTP versions.

Ok, I just changed the user data path. I thought we had to put it my documents. I created an c:/OOTPdata folder and it seems to go all right. Thanks for the help.
