Challenge Mode and 'Not Logged In'

I've been playing OOTP since version 4 so I wouldn't call myself a newbie. There's a few things, however, in this version that are making me feel like one.

1. I have challenge mode turned on, but I can't figure out where to see my 'achievements'

2. To the right of the challenge mode icon, it says 'Not Logged In'. Are these two related, and how do you log in? On the home page it says 'Could not connect to the online services'. Is that related to any of this?

Confused in Dallas,
Mike

Where your name is, it says 'Could not connect to the online service!'. My internet is working though, since I'm able to post here.

But even without that, where do you see your achievements? Or, do you have to be logged in to see them?

You need to be logged in to view achievements.

Ah, okay. Any idea why I can't connect? Is there a setting I need to turn on?

I think it's a bug for some users.

The suggestion for now is to try to turn off any programs running in the background including anti-virus and firewall and see if that helps.

If so, let us know which programs seemed to be the issue.

I don't seem to have the option to register/ log in or any error message either. Is it because I'm using the Steam version?

I played my first season logged in on challenge mode and it did not record the season, only the achievements. I restarted my computer and logged in again and played a second season and again it did not record the season at all. This was a nice idea but I am going to be dropping it. Without the editor there are some minor things that are needed you just can't do. For example I had a player who had been out for a year and came off the disabled list the day before the season started. But because the AAA season hadn't started yet I could not send him to rehab and I had to cut another player to put him on the roster, where he promptly got hurt again in his second outing. Usually in cases like this I would use the editor to put him in AAA for a few weeks and then call him up. The game is absolutely incredible but there are still a few bugs like this where the editor comes in handy. It allows you to better restore the reality the game does not let you reproduce. Challenge mode is a good idea but for me, even if it had worked, it is not worth what you must sacrifice.
