Exclamation Game Crashes w/ Pitcher Injuries

Hi all,

I'm currently playing on a Mac with the latest OOTP build, 18.1.33.

WHENEVER (literally each time) a pitcher gets injured during a game, the game crashes whenever I try to put in a new pitcher.

Any chance of this being fixed soon? It kind of ruins the game and I cringe every other inning thinking a pitcher could be injured at any point and I have to start all over.

Thanks!

Same with me:

So I started up a standard league, checked the standings and decided I'd see how I could do as the St. Louis Cardinals.

I picked my manager name, and nationality, looked over what my challenges were, including having a winning record and noticed I'd be one of six teams starting the season on April second.

So I looked over things, including a extension demand by one of my players, and moved on to April first.

This came and went quickly, I did look over my injured players.

Played my first game on the second. a 5-2 loss.

Evaluated things on the third.

My second game also at home against the Cubs was on the fourth.

In the second inning my starting pitcher got hurt.

The game showed me the roster display, never giving me an option to visit the mound.

I inserted a new pitcher into the 9th spot, but it still mentioned that I was down a player.

I clicked the position to P for my new pitcher, and the game crashed.

Now, the only file that was saved was from the very beginning. Jim Smith, unemployed.
So nothing got saved.

Any chance that since I was changing the roster, and not the position AND the roster at the same time that this is what's causing the problem?

You can change the options so that the game will save every day, week, month...

I wish I knew that before.

I had the issue when just inserting the pitcher into the pitching box, not the "warming up" section, but where the pitcher should actually be.

Good to know that even if it's done in the batting order it still doesn't work.

I've been careful to save every other day now just incase there's a pitcher injury.

Game Crashes when a pitcher is Injured in a Game

I found that every time a pitcher gets injured during a game, and I try and replace them with a reliever my game will crash. Both times this happened to me I dragged my new pitcher right into the "Current Pitcher" area under my team's substitutes, not the bullpen warm up spot. I don't know if that matters, just thought I'd mention it.

I am using the Steam version of the game that was released today (March 24th).

Injured Pitcher, playing game, crash

After the end of the top of the 6th, on the last out of the half inning my starting pitcher was injured (in lots of pain, etc) and it said I had to remove him from the game.
So I looked at him in the Rosters/change players section, and saw that it was a one game type of injury (can't recall the type of injury)...
I picked a reliever to replace him (it's inbetween innings and I'm up to bat next) since the game had me at the change players screen and it showed no pitcher in the pitcher slot.
So I dropped and dragged the new relief pitcher to the slot to put him in the game as it apparently wanted me to, and it caused a windows/game crash error.

I am playing the release version that just came out today. 18.1.33

Glad to hear, thank you!

Will patches be applied when we open Steam or do we have to update manually? Thanks again.

I've owned both Steam and regular Mac version for OOTP. From what I recall, Steam updates the game automatically.

And to the OOTP team - thanks for addressing this issue so quickly!

It appears to have taken care of this issue.
I'm playing the Cardinals, and was playing in New York against the Yankees.
It seems to have taken care of the problem as my game didn't crash when I replaced my injured starter.

Of course, now when I'm playing against the AL, I have to remember to replace my pitcher, and not my lineup #9, as that is NOT a pitcher. D' Oh!!!

Good to know, as I just had it happen to me on my Windows laptop with a pitcher injury.

Much appreciated!
