Playing role of GM
I solely play as a GM, I very rarely actually enter a game and manage, I really enjoy roster building and development. That said this is my 2nd year. I often found my managers lineups werent what I had in mind when I constructed my team. Do others override this (if possible) or is this part of the engine and who your hiring to run your organization? Here in Milwaukee we've placed a large focus on middle IF/OF talent. That means I could have players listed as a SS but would like them to develop as a 2b/3b/ss combo of 2 or 3. Often times the lineups will just play the best talent at the position and ignore there is other talent who can perform, at least thats my findings from last year. Ideas/Thoughts/Tips?

If you are playing GM only, you still can activate the legacy-mode in the Game Settings -> Global Settings -> down left (GM-only users are always in control of lineups (legacy-mode)
That one allows you to still set the lineups the way you want them, e.g. how you constructed the team, but the manager still makes the in-game decisions and you can always ask him out for his oppinion. Of course, you then have to look after things from time to time if injuries happen for instance, or if you demote somebody to AAA and promote a minor league player. |

in doing so will the manager still make changes in season? I do like that at times he gives guys chances but sometimes he bats guys in orders I dislike, or doesnt play the OF to my liking as how I see depth.

Another option for you could bee using the game strategy screen for the individual players then. There you can can select something like "force role" or something named like this. That means your manager would always start the player at that position. This way you can for instance force him to play a certain player at third without having to mess with the rest of the lineup daily. |

If I remember right, you could also hire a manager that will let you choose the lineup. Not all let you but there are some.
