I'm in an OOTP 4 league, 30 teams, and we're about to draft with Rolen's rosters this week. I've got the 5th pick in the draft, and am trying to come up with the ten or so best guys to build a franchise in career mode around.
So far I've come up with (in no particular order) Pedro Martinez Alex Rodriguez Vladimir Guerrero Albert Pujols Any more names to the list and/or comments would be greatly appreciated. ![]() |

Pedro's health is a little questionable now. Maybe a younger guy like Garcia or Mulder?

From what I remember Pedro is listed as normal health with Rolen's rosters (I think...), so that doesn't matter that much.
I just hope any of those four are there for my #5 pick. And I hope someone takes Randy Johnson in the top 5 as well ![]() Oh, and hi Pointer. ![]() |

Josh Beckett
Albert Puljos Adam Dunn <- he's done well in my solo league Russ Ortiz - not sure his age, but he wins more games than Pedro does - Jim Thome is old, but he hits the poop out of the ball with Rolens rosters. Actually, Thome had one heck of a year last year. C.C. Sabathia Joe Mayes? I think.. Randy Wolf Matt Morris Todd |

In my solo league he won Cy Young at 24.

***DO NOT TAKE THIS ADVICE***
For some reason, Ross Gload of the Cubs farm system always kicked a$$ in my OOTP3 leagues (I haven't played any v4 MLB leagues). I would pick him first round, definitely. You can take that to the bank. Uh huh. No doubt. Forget about all those LOSERS that have been mentioned. Pedro who? Vladimir who? What's a Pujols? The future of baseball is Ross Gload. ***DO NOT TAKE THIS ADVICE*** |

H.Blaylock hit .366 his rookie year in my league.
P.Martinez has dominated each year so far. J.Uribe (I know, surprise)hit 30 triples in back to back seasons while batting .280.

Note: I am using Rolen's rosters... V.Guerrero has done good for me so far in my career league (three games played, first season). If you're looking for young catching, Toby Hall has done good for me so far with the bat. Not a top 5 player, but just a suggestion for a catcher. Juan Cruz is a good young pitcher for a spot in a rotation. He also has team leader ability on Rolen's rosters. He isn't a top 5 player either, but good for some spot in your rotation.

Definitely not challenged by the minors. Seriously. Search for him at the top-right and look at his BB/K ratio---> http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com [ March 26, 2002: Message edited by: JML ]
|

Like all great teams do, build up the middle.
Centerfielder Shortstop Starting Pitcher Catcher Mike Piazza has to be a top 5 pick. There is so little depth at Catcher that it increases his value exponentially. |

Thanks for the tips so far.
I now have the privilege of ranking 1200 players for myself for the impending draft. Gonna try and get 300 or so done tonight. Ugh. So damned hard. |
