Custom Playoff Question

I have OOTP16, didn't get 17, might get 18. In OOTP16 you can create custom playoffs, but the number of rounds is limited if the number of teams in the league is a power of 2. For instance, I had one league where 5 teams make the playoffs and the 1 seed gets a bye to the final, and another league where 6 teams make the playoffs, 1v6, 2v5, 3v4, highest seeded remaining team after round 1 gets a bye to the finals. If you could add another round of bye teams, you could have more play-in rounds, regardless of the number of teams that make the playoffs. Will this option exist in OOTP18?

Not completely sure what you mean, but customizable playoff rounds are included in 17.

Obviously I did something wrong in the playoff customizable set up - I have a 24 team league, that currently has a playoff structure where only 1 wild card team makes the playoffs - I would like 2.

So I made some changes in the off-season (or so I thought) - and it ended up messing up the whole season - no one made the playoffs, after spring training all teams showed eliminated from the playoffs.

Can someone walk me through this setup - as I thought I did everything correctly. So it would be 3 division winners - plus 2 wild card teams. The wild card teams play 1 game - and then play the highest seed in the Divisional Series (best of 5); then Division Championship Series and World Series (Best of 7) -- just like MLB.

Thanks!

There's a workaround: add enough wild card qualifiers to achieve the required number of rounds, but replace them with byes on the actual bracket. (Example: advance 5 teams, but set the playoff rounds as 1 vs. bye, bye vs, bye, 2 vs. bye, 3 vs. 4)

This is a bit glitchy, but AFAIK it works.

Set each division champion to advance, and set two wild cards per subleague to advance. Also select the options to order teams by seeding and to seed wild cards lowest. Do not re-seed after each round!

In each subleague, set the matchups as 1 vs. bye, 4 vs. 5, 2 vs. bye, 3 vs. bye.
