Lingering Injuries

Long time OOTPer, but rare poster, so apologies if this has been discussed before, but...

Has there ever been any thought given to adding long-term lingering injuries to the feature list? Currently in OOTP 17 the most often "day to day" injuries affect players for seemingly 3 - 7 days and result in a lower production level for them during that time. With how we know baseball works IRL, wouldn't it be more realistic if there were longer injuries that did not always result in a DL stint but negatively still impacted day to day performance? I think of things like wrist, finger, oblique, back, etc issues that are very commonplace but are sometimes not deemed DL-worthy. It would be really interesting to me if these became more common in the game to make it more realistic for baseball in 2017. Maybe there could be an option too to place a player on the DL and have him be out for 2 weeks or let the injury linger while still playing, but he will have a lower performance for a month.

Additionally, it would be even more fun to have players that have "undiagnosed" injuries that impact their performance, but don't let the team know. Think of Bryce Harper last year (or any one of a number of other examples) where players have an injury and their performance is worse than their historical standards, but no one knows why because they don't mention it to the team. Not sure how this would work mechanically in the game but I think it would add an additional layer of realism.

Thoughts?

I like both of these ideas. Perhaps there could be a dynamic such that the injuries are still reported as day-to-day for a week or so, but that time keeps getting extended unless there is a stint on the DL or the player gets benched for awhile. (Sometimes but not always. Maybe after the third extension or so, you might get the idea... or the player could just finally recover without being benched)

As for the hidden injuries. Maybe these could tie in with the team trainer. The better trainers might be able to eventually spot and report on these while other trainers miss them...

It's in the announced feature list for 18.

Redesigned Injury System

The injury system in OOTP 18 has been reworked to be more realistic and interesting. A detailed injury history is tracked for players, the injury database has been enhanced, there are now nagging little long-term injuries, injuries to different body types have different long-term effects, injuries in historical leagues are more realistic, and much more.
