Qualifying Offer

I have players that have been on my team for several years reaching free agency, yet I don't see that they are eligible for the qualifying offer on their contract pages. They have been on my team all year, and are finished with their arbitration years. Am I missing something? Do they need to be a certain number of years after their arbitration years? A certain salary level?

Can you post a screen shot, to see what you are seeing?

It will not be on there page it will be on the team arbitration page on the drop down list prior to the arbitration process.

After the season ends, there is a "salary arbitation and qualifying offer" or something like that screen. There you can enter what you would like to offer to your guys in arb, as well as checking a checkmark for the qualifying offers you want to give your players leaving.

Screenshot attached. It's during the season, but I wanted to see if any of my players are compensation eligible to help me with trade decisions.

More info: I traded for this player 3 seasons ago in the offseason. He has been on my MLB roster since then. I have been signing him on one-year deals during his arbitration years. Now he is eligible for free agency.

There must be a reason he's not eligible, because here's another player on my team who IS eligible (attached screenshot):

tbh, i never checked on the player profiles because well you should know who is and who isnt eligible.

you will see the players eligible for compensation on the same screen where your arbitration eligible players are listed in the off season. there you can simply check a box to extend a qualifying offer to each player eligible

My guess for why the two players are different.

The ineligible player can be optioned down to the minors and have his Arbitration clock halted. He has not accrued enough ML service to actually be eligible for FA. The bottom line on his Player Profile is misleading. His contract may not expire after this season if you manipulate his ML service. I am betting that if you go into the Front Office Salary page it shows Arb. for next season.

The second player has 12 years ML service and clearly will be a FA unless you resign him.

I think this is why you are not seeing what you expect. You can still change the outcome of player number 1.
