Fictional League Stats Insanity
Not sure if this is just me, but each time I start up a fictional league the stats I see are insane. Also, there are like 3 Mickey Mantles/Walter Johnsons on each team so it must be the ratings of these guys.
Any way to make it so it's a more balanced league? If everyone is extraordinary then no one is extraordinary, get it?

i can't help with the historical options...
the stats can be maintained no matter how odd things get - at least the totals. if the league is saturated or bare, that will affect distribution. got to league settings->stats and AI tab, then click auto-calc league totals modifiers button - not available during the season. i'd recommend clicking it on Opening Day before any games have played - all MLB 25-man rosters are set that way. i'm sure someone can help or you can find an old thread by searching for some basic keywords. those types of things might be game creation only options - player debuts etc... just not sure what's what with historical play. side note: you may also want to look at player creation modidfiers. those are a tab or two left of Stats and AI - i can't remember the label. you'll see the raitngs and a 1.000 default (maybe not in historical). that's jsut for Fictionally created players. EDIT: don't change the totals unless you change them all to calculate out correctly - in other words it's a lot easier to change modifiers to get the results you want.... if you don't agree with one of the totals, you can adjust the resulting auto-calced modifier. it's proportional. so if you want 10% less, you reduce that total modifier by 10%. if you autocalc every year, it will keep the overall numbers likely to be very close to the Totals on that screen (likely! if given enough time it will hit those targets, thereabouts). i'd pay attention to the resulting values with the goal of understanding an "average" ... learn the extremes of each and use midpoint... then go from there. these things interact with each other quite a bit, so i typically operaly on a 1/2 to 2/3rds the change i want... i.e. if it's 10% less wanted, i might reduce by 5-8 first and see how that jives. also, if you want to use solely static LTM, you will likely need to run some long simulations if you want them to be precise. it will still fluctuate, but the causes that are ... left to be desired in the context of modeling.
