Proceed to next year crash

I clicked on PROCEED TO NEXT YEAR sometime during GENERATE LEAGUE REPORTS the game crashes with the following error message:

Any hope for the league or should I give up and start another one?

I am somewhat frustrated as I have only about a 50% chance of advancing to the 2nd season with any league I start. I have used the same league four times ( 2 leagues 16 teams). in two cases the game crashed in the PRCEED TO NEXT YEAR phase.
I have been playing OOTP since Ver 3 and never had a game crash. What is happening here. Could someone of the OOTP brass offer an idea?
