First round picks

Anyone else trade first round picks for a great starting player. I don't mind if I'm getting a 24-27 year old "ace" or great positional player.

I've always read that the AI doesn't know how to properly value draft picks in trades so I've stayed away from enabling that setting.

I only trade draft picks for draft picks., usually on draft day.

you can definitely abuse the AI in this regard. if you aren't ending up with the first 3, 5 or 10+ picks, you aren't abusing it much. if you aren't doing that, you can't be abusing it very much.

the biggest things is trading the top picks in the first round... including them isn't too big of a deal, especially any lower round draft pick... they aren't value much by the AI... figure a crappy RP or less as near the bottom.

not as bad as a bad rp, though... those can actually reduce interst in a trade... it's better to remove them than trade them, lol.

i don't do picks-only trades. i don't trade for/away 1st rounders... since i've adopted this, i think the highest pick i've ever gotten in return was a 5-7th. i essenctially leave it on for the AI-to-AI trading in hopes it makes it work more optimally - more options to make somethign work.

i try to look at trades and be reasonable for the AI when draft picks are concerned. on occasion the AI overvalues some players you have and you get great deals... remove picks and see how much they are of influence. if you are happy with what you see, go for it.
