Delayed double steal
With good base stealers on 1st and 3rd. I would like to have the option of a delayed double steal. Or even a straigh out double steal. As far as I can tell I choose between stealing second or home but not both. Am I missing something?

Agreed, a delayed double steal should be in the game.

It's such a rare play how does one determine a meaningful success rate? There are several outcomes other than runner 1 scores runner 2 safe at 2B. How should these outcomes be distributed vs catcher/pitcher/infield defense ratings? How often should the AI attempt it vs other strategies and overall strategic settings. For example 1000 attempts in current MLB is approx 1 in 5 games. That seems high to me but there is no data AFAIK.
Given the rarity and undocumented success rate there should be a huge penalty if it is overused by human players. Otherwise it is just another potential exploit. Put another way, when the AI uses or doesn't use certain strategies or fails to use them when called for we post about it. ![]() BTW I thought there was a "double steal" choice when playing games.

The only double steal in the game is the "traditional" one, with runners on first and second.

Yes I was responding to that question not the delayed version.

BTW I think it would be great if it worked 85% of the time. Some people like realism that's great, but this is my fantesy league, and I'll play it how I like it. |
