I've accidentally offered a HoF caliber player a minor league extension (I mis-clicked since it was RIGHT next to the "Offer Extension" option). I didn't get a confirmation notice or anything, and now I seem to be stuck: The player is going to be insulted if I let the offer stand, and unhappy if I withdraw this accidental offer. Correct?
Is there anyway to wipe out that minor league extension offer or am I screwed? There really should at least be a confirmation pop-up for that "Offer minor league contract" off button since it's right next to the actual Offer Extension button, and if there is no way to silently rescind the offer... |

Dunno, but possibly if you offer him a regular extension before he sees the minor league one in his email box, you might be okay....
At worst, he will just decline the offer and be a little P.O.'d making it just a tad harder for you to extend him normally.... |

if you have a back-up of BEFORE you offered him the contract, you could roll the game back and undo history.
Questdog's solution might be easier.

Guess I'll just have to take the morale hit. Looks like this part of the UI could use a little tweaking to prevent this. |

Have you tried going to commish mode and looking under the edit tab?
Maybe you can clear the offer here or reset at least reset morale? |

it might reduce their negotiating disposition??? not sure... you'll have to sim out 2 days or 3 days for his response, then make a major league offer...
you can make a personal choice as to what you want to do... imo, when i mis-click i allow mystelf to "fix" things... because you know what never happens in real life??? you don't accidentalyl click the wrong button and piss off a player with an action that might be offensive. e.g. imo, if the player refuses to negotiate after that, i'd look for a similar comparison and use that as the contract... OR you could make a clone of the guy and see if he has been negotiated with yet? if not, perfect... just delete the other guy, lol. worse comes to worst, you can alwys hand-create the guy and delete the old one, if cloning them also copies recent offers and such. (i doubt it does) |

Just hit CTRL ALT DEL and end task out of the game, as long as it hasn't been saved since you made the offer.

These are all good ideas, I just wouldn't withdraw the option. Then he'd be mad and wouldn't negotiate at all. Quest's idea is interesting I wonder if that works?

I think you'll be fine. He's not going to break off negotiations because of it

Idea for OOTP 18: Allow MiLC offers to be canceled without penalty.
EDIT: Also, don't have "MiLC extension" in the right-click menu for anyone who currently has a major league contract. |

I have made that mistake before too.
Just wait a couple of days. The minor offer will be gone, and you can then offe the real contract you wanted too. Might take 2-4 days to be free to do so. |
