Photo Size Confusion

Hi. I'm preparing a small fictional league in which I'll be using my own photos. Now, in the manual it states that photos must be 90 X 135. But
just before I was getting ready to crop/retouch my photos, I noticed a thread here where someone stated "The consensus was photos should be 180 X 270" but he was having some minor issues, and then someone replied that for best results they should be 170 X 255. Since a larger photo would be easier to retouch, I just want to make sure before I take all the time to do it, since the manual does say they have to be 90 X 135.
