My first no hitter when playing out a game!

And surprisingly it was for my team!

Fictional league with modern settings, I created the league then took over what looked like the worst team. Started 9-14, so not great. Up steps Brian Ross, against a Las Vegas team who are going pretty well. It's a pitchers duel all the way, with no-one getting a hit until the 5th inning. Gets quiet tense towards the end, and with one out remaining, their lead off hitter hits a ground ball to second, which is bobbled. I literally said aloud "that has to be an error!" Luckily, it was, and the next batter hit a line drive straight to the SS to end the game.

Congratulations. I haven't had one yet in OOTP 17----I had 2 separated by 22 years in Strat-o-Matic, though.

It is a cool thing to experience.

I understand the drama and excitement. I've played out nearly every game in my league (for my own team) for 14 years - and not hitters are still just as exciting.

I had the most crushing near-miss last week when finishing up year 6 of my Eastern Association. I lost a starter to injury in the first round and a swingman made his first postseason start in game 4 of the finals, up 3-0. All the poor fool did was get 8 2/3 no-hit innings before giving up a hit (in hindsight, It was a batter that had walked twice earlier in the game,and I really should have pitched around). As the game was telling me that the pitcher was exhausted, I opted to go with the closer to finish up the series.

Like I say, it was a classic pitcher's duel. There were no hits at all until the 5th inning.

It was a big surprise. It wasn't like I was an All-Star. There were a couple of mistakes: The statue was me batting left-handed, and I hit right-handed, and they got the number wrong. The statue was #7, and of course I wore #9 when I played with the Cards. No big deal, I think they got a deal on the statue. It was by some guy named "Stan the Man"---Bob Uecker
