Bad start for the Cubs...

The Cubs first 20 games have been a disaster to start the season. Although there are some good things happening in the first month, it seems the bad things have taken a hold of the team. With Sosa(8) and Choi(7) both in the top 5 for HR's in the NL, neither of them have a BA over .250. As for the starters, Juan Cruz(2.78 ERA) and Mark Prior(3.98 37Ks in 29 IP) are the only plusses while Wood(10.58 ERA), Clement(6.28 ERA), and Zambrano(7.14 ERA) are all struggling to get below the 6.00 ERA. At this rate, manager Mike Mau says, "We have pitchers in AAA and AA that could probably handle the job of being an everyday starter, so I won't be afraid to bring them up in replace of one of our big boys." The Cubs have one of the top Prospect Systems in baseball with Kelton, Harris, Beltran all waiting to be brought up within the next couple years.

The Pirates and Astros are front runners in the division by 5 games and more to everyone else behind them with records of 14-6 while the Cubs are the basement dwellers so far with a record of 6-15. Manager Mike Mau speaks up again about his team's slow start, "I know we'll come around. Our starting pitchers are too good to be in a slump this long, I know we'll come around eventually. Our hitters are coming around now as well, so watch out for us in the near future."

Cubs Win 7 in a row!

The Cubs have won 15 of their last 21 games to get to a record of 21-22 with a 7 game winning streak halfway through the month of May. "I told you so." Says Manager Mike Mau. The Cubs are still back 6 games to the Astros who have a record of 27-16. Hee-Man Choi has only 10 Homers, but has a BA of .291. "His 'Big Man' presence gives us a lot of insurance batting behind Sammy(leading the Majors with 17 Dingers). Also Kevin Orie has been lighting it up big time for us, what's he have, 28 HR's? That's what it seems like, he's only started a little more than half the games for us." Orie who has 12 HRs in only 100 AB's so far this year has been a big spark plug during the Cubs 7 game winning streak. "Man, it sucked real bad to be losing, but now we're winning and that's created a positive aura in the dugouts, on the field, off the field. We're doing so much better, I'm proud of our guys for not falling down more when we were already on the can." Wood, the Cubs spokesman said yesterday during an interview after he threw a gem through 7 innings until his bullpen faltered and almost blew the game. The Cubs came out on top in 10 innings 6-2.

Kerry Wood

Kerry Wood has been told by his manager that if he doesn't improve is ERA in the next two games(7.26) that he'll be called down to AAA to regain his mechanics and they'll bring up Steve Smyth or Francis Beltran. Wood after hearing this said, "What the **** are they thinking? I'm the best pitcher we've got." After being handed a stat sheet showing his numbers for the year Wood then says, "Holy ****, I've been doin that bad? Send me down now! Awwe man. I'm gonna work real hard to get back to my normal self."

The Pittsburgh Pirates are running away with the division with a record of 39-20. The next team is the Astros with a record of 37-23. Those two teams are the best in the NL. Astros up in the wildcard by a comfy lead of 7 games. The Cubs are settled into 3rd place with a record of 28-32 with a 4-game series coming up with the Astros. "This is a big series for us coming up. It's make-or-break for our season", said Coach Mau.

Trade

The Cubs sent Eric Karros to the Montreal Expos for Wil Cordero, hoping to revamp their outfield with Moises Alou struggling with a BA of .212 and 1 HR. Cubs will also call up Nic Jackson to be backup first baseman.

All-Star Break...

The Cubs at the halfway point are 46-50. "We are just way too streaky. We win 7 in a row, we lost 8 out of 10. That's the way we are, that's the way it's been all season. It's frustrating! Just like at the end of the break, we're playing great ball, winning 7 in a row again just like earlier in the season to reach .500, then we lose 4 in a row to go into the break. How do we expect to catch up to the leaders if we keep doing that? We have to jump that wall and take it to the next level. We don't have to change offensively since we're in the top 10 for every offensive category. It's the pitching that's bothering us", said Mike Mau of his Cubs. The Cubs are still on the bottom half of every pitching category. A few players that are making that possible are Kerry Wood(6.48), Prior(5.78), and Zambrano(7.00). "The guys in our system are just not ready to pitch in the big leagues yet. They struggled big time when they had their chance so we have to keep sticking with these guys until they turn around", Mau said of his pitchers.

Season Almost Over

With the season coming to an end, the Cubs are no where to be found in any kind of race.. Except the race to the cellar. The Cubs with a month and a half left to go in the season found themselves at .500 for the 3rd time this season and failed...again for the 3rd time to bring themselves over the hump. At the point of being at .500 the Cubs also found themselves within 5 games of the WildCard leader only to lose 8 of 9 games and fall even ferther after that. The Astros are 99-53. Can you say WOW!? What a second half for the Astros as they only lost 16 games in the second half so far with only 10 games to go. The only excitement in the Major Leagues at this point is the Western Division in the National League. Four teams are still in the hunt with 10 games to play. Arizona holds a half game lead over San Fransisco, a game ahead of LA, and 3 games ahead of the Rockies. Now tell me, how do the Rockies have 4 of the top 5 hitters in BA and not have the best team? Pitching of course. They rank dead last in ERA. So this is another example to get a pitching staff, then your hitters.

Minnesota Twins Wolrd Champions

The Twins beat the Diamondbacks in 6 games to take the World Series in 2003.

The Cubs are coming back next year signing almost everyone except the 38 year olds who aren't that good anymore.

The Cubs plans for next year are to develop the pitchers in the big leagues so they can become great players within the next few years to help the Cubs win now. The Cubs finished the season 78-84. Considering the horrendous start that's not a bad start for first year Coach Mike Mau. He is expecting to get a contract extension. But who knows, worse has happened before.

We'll be back after spring training for the next season.

The Cubs are looking better this Spring with new additions of Preston Wilson and Closer Latroy Hawkins who will fill in the void of last years hole. The bullpen has improved since last year, but its still not top notch. Guthrie, Veres, Borowski, Zambrano, Beltran(looking to have a big year), and Hawkins. The starting pitchers are the same as last year. Prior, Wood, Cruz, Clement, and Benes who had a good Spring Training.

The lineup is a little different this year.. Preston wilson will be batting only against lefties this year, and Corey Patterson against Righties, as its there strengths to do so. They'll be platooning CF.

Ramon Martinez will lead off and play SS for most of the time with Alex Gonzales coming in every once in a while.

Mark Bellhorn will have one more year to try and do what he did in 2002. Last year was a down year, he batted .233 with 19 homers. If he doesn't improve, there is Alex Cintron to back him up. He's a very good contact hitter who can get on base a lot.

3rd base will have Kevin Orie playing there everyday, same with Damian Miller at Catcher, Sosa in right, and rookie Dave Kelton playing in Left everyday. Kelton had a good spring which he brought his power and contact awareness up.

Good luck Cubbies. Could this be the year?

new year

Cubs finish first month 12-15 with Prior, Cruz, and Wood as the top pitchers for the Cubs so far. At least this year nobody is above the 7.00 ERA mark.

Kelton, Choi, and Orie are the only 3 guys batting above .300 that play everyday..
Choi and Kelton lead team with 9 homers, then Orio and Sosa with 5. Sosa is batting a crappy .136 so far.

"I'll say it again. We'll come around. Last year we needed our pitchers to come around, but this year our batters need too."

Why is Orie starting at 3rd? What happened to Bellhorn?

I started a second league were I let the computer manage all the teams and so far I have simmed 60 years from now. The Cubs finally won the world series in 2012, and 2017. It took my Sox till 2032 to win won. Watch out for the Marlins in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. 4 world titles in a row. In my league were I play the GM, my Sox just blew the world series in 7 games in 2004. Looks like Godzilla couldnt do it for me. Maybe 2005 is the year.

Bellhorn is Playing 2nd..

Bellhorn is playing second since Bobby Hill is basically worthless. He's a one-star player and playing Single-A ball and doing bad there. So I'm kind of upset that he wasn't that good on the game. I should have edited him for a realistic look. Oh well, too late..

I'm sorry to say it though.. But due to practice everyday, and games starting next Thursday for my College baseball team that I won't be able to continue this "Dynasty Story". Thank you for tuning in. Maybe sometime I'll continue it. But I don't think it'll be anytime soon. We play 8 games a week so that takes up a lot of my time, ya?

And just so you all know, I was in my second season before I decided to hang up my cleats. The Cubs were doing terrible. Beyond terrible.. LOL.. 20-52 right now!!!! WOW!!! Worst record in the league right along with Tampa. Oh well.

Once again. Thanks.
