The Infield "Pregnant Pause"

I'm seeing this a lot whenever I play in 3D Mode. The batter hits a groundball to an infielder (2B, SS or 3B). He gets the ball and freezes, waits about 3 seconds and then finally makes a weak throw to the first baseman. I don't think I've seen this happen in real-life over the course of a season as I've seen it happen in OOTP.

I have seen this a lot as well. I take it with a grain of salt. 3D is still a work in progress. I just assumed that it is one of the few animations they had created so far for the infielder to first error. Overthrows, which you really see more often, are maybe harder to make happen. (I know nothing about design so that I merely a guess).

You should not think of what you see in 3D as actually happening in real-time. Think of it like this; before you even see anything on the screen, the play has already been simulated. 3D mode is just a representation of the result of that dice roll.

The reason runners sometimes seem to run really slow, or infielders seem to take forever, or any of that weirdness happens is because the game has to match the result of that simulation (the outcome of which is already decided).

I don't know when the outcome of baserunning decisions is calculated. So I don't know if it's predetermined that if you send the runner around third he'll be out at home, or whatever. But definitely for the infield 3D issues, don't try to think of things as happening in real-time. They're not, at all.

The IF fumbled the ball and needs to readjust without moving too much?

You obviously did not see Miguel Tejada "play" shortstop for the 2011 Giants :P
