Ballpark Factors and Stadium Dimensions
I noticed when changing the stadium dimensions under "Edit Ballpark" the ballpark factors did not change. What I'm wondering is, does OOTP just generate random ballpark factors when it creates a fictional league, with no relevance to the ballpark dimension? Also, how does the weather affect the ballpark factors (or is weather's influence separate from the ballpark factor?).
Basically, I'm trying to determine if the generated fictional stadium dimensions in my fictional league have any real influence over the ballpark factors that were also created. Thanks you! |

IIRC, the dimensions are part of the calculations for park factors but once the park factors are set the dimensions become purely cosmetic.

easy to test if eriqjaffe is right. change the doubles or any input that changes the calculated factors litsted at the top, then change them back to the intended value with different dimensions each time. If they are new values, then you know what you changed had an effect. e.g. Take note of Calculated values above for a baseline. Then, set doubles to new value, which causes factor above to recalculate Type in extreme difference in a park dimension - like left center moving out 50feet or more (or some extreme that causes a known result to doubles) Replace doubles value with original and it will recaclulate park overall factors above. if it's the same value, you know that the dimensions changed made no difference. afterthought - use HR and move fences in or out a ton.... way simpler than doubles... you move walls out too far and it will increase 3b and reduce 2b i would think. same with moving walls in hr+, 2b-. |

Influence of weather (from 17 online manual)
Ballpark factors (also manual) Dimensions purely cosmetic. |

missed the weather part of the question...
was speaking of the dimensions. while i believe that portion of the manual is up-to-date, that manual has less integrity than <insert rude joke here>. |

If you want to know how changing the ballpark dimensions will change the park factors, use the Ballpark Creator utility (made by Eriq Jaffe, in fact!). Plug in the existing dimension and weather data, then make your changes. It will automatically update the park factors for you, then you can put those updated factors into the game.

The actual stadium distances do not matter.
If you actually want to adjust the ball park modifiers you have to change the actual factors here: In this instance, a pitcher's park. Last edited by Honorable_Pawn; 10-04-2016 at 06:43 PM. |

Did Alex Trebek throw out the first pitch when that park opened? Was he compensated for his endorsement?
