Draft - free agency

I have posted this before - thought with all the updates the issue would be fixed, but it is not. I started a league (historical) in 1969 and have had nothing but problems with the draft, and players being drafted, signing with the team that drafted them - then a year later without being traded or released - signing with someone else.

New problem - players are being drafted, they sign, and a few weeks later they are released. How is this happening. My draft is held on 12/15.

Recently - Dave Winfield was the #1 overall pick by the Montreal Expos in the 1972 draft - he signed on 1/17/72 to a 3 year contract, a week later he was released. He has since signed with the Oakland A's to a one year contract. Can someone in this huge knowledge pool tell me why this is happening? It makes playing this great game not so fun!!

this is fixed in the latest hotfix. make sure you install it

Unbelievable. I waited for over 2 months ---- thought we 3 patches, this issue would have been fixed by now.

I don't understand why I cannot get some assistance from the designers and the company. I have been buying this game and playing it religiously since version 2. I have never seen this issue until this version.

I am trying to start and play a historic league, but cannot keep the league going in the current situation. No way - the Expos draft Dave Winfield with the #1 overall pick, sign him and then a week later release him. He isn't the only one - and the problem before was similar - player signed a contract from the team he was drafted by - played in there minor system then was a free agent after the year - unrealistic.

I'm really sorry it took so long to hear back from anyone at OOTP on this.

Does this happen in any league you start or just one specific league?

Also, do you have any special setting enabled other than the default?

Specifically, do you have roster limits on the lowest levels of the minor leagues? Doing so can sometimes cause behavior like this and it's generally the only thing I know of that does.

If that's not the case, would you be so kind as to either ftp your files to us as per the directions in my sig, or else post your league files on dropbox or somewhere and send me a message with a link to them?

I don't understand your FTP instructions - not sure why this cannot be done in the game - where I can send you the files; very complicated instructions to me. I don't know if it is happening in other leagues, I was focusing on this league for the time being. I am not sure if it is pre Free Agency related, but I kept most of the settings the same. If you give me another way to send them to you, I would be more than happy to.

No problem. You can send them any way that works for you.

Do you have dropbox? If so you can put them there. If not, any file sharing site will do, just upload them there. Either way, just post the link in the thread or send me a PM with it.
