Do you pay attention to Prospects lists?
Do you put much stock in the AI's prospects lists? Meaning each individual teams Top Prospects or the MLB's list of Top Prospects? Sometimes, I have found unlisted players that seem more talented than some of the ranked players.

I have decided to start using dynamic prospect lists, as the annual ones are showing players that have no business being in your systems report that are signed from International Leagues. The reason they are appearing in the list, is because they were ranked in their former league before signing in MLB. Setting the list to dynamic eliminates this issue.

I put the rankings into consideration if I'm looking for the 'save' guy, a guy the OSA Likes, I like, our scouting department likes and that is highly ranked here.
But, you will see prospects having a great career and win Rookie of the Year and become multiple All-Stars that were like #80 prospects once and unranked in their rookie Year. |

Nope.
With the slight caveat that I use the lists to guess which teams might have a surplus at a position where I need help... maybe if they have a good ML SS and a good prospect at AA I can trade for the AAA SS, for instance. |

i look at them, see which teams have better minor league system - which may indicate they'll be contenders for a while, and then delete the note and start my season.

Agreed. If there is information available (that doesn't 'break' reality... like looking under the hood), why would you not use it?

I am a quick rebuild GM, so not really.

Don't care at all... but might be useful while scouting other team's prospects. If it's just based on OSA nevermind, but otherwise it'd be another way to see something worthwhile that your scout missed.
Not paying attention to the list doesn't preclude one from looking for prospects. I prefer to use "List all MLB players", check "include minor leagues", and set a filter for league level "not mlb," and sort as needed for each situation. It is a more comprehensive list than the Top Prospect List. Unless scouting values are different than OSA on the prospect list as described above, that list is inferior in almost every way. edit: besides the possible scouting thing, also if it affects trade value, it would be good to reference. I hope that would only be relative to mismatched scouting between teams though... i.e. a team sees less talent, but the prospect is top-X on the list, so it values it a bit more than normal for their perceived ratings of that player. I've found that the better prospects are often found outside of the top prospect lists. I like to look at the minor league systems and judge for myself, and then check the top prospect lists in case I might have missed someone.

Even though I'm mostly a "sign free agents and make trades" guy, I still look at the list. If a prospect plays for a "win now" team, especially one in the opposite division, I may try to unload a pricey veteran or two for said prospect.

rhetorical for others: Go to list all mlb players. click include MiL checkbox. Set a filter for league level is not MLB. It's simple to switch between positions or all, too. you want a top list with fewer names? filter for a minimum <insert rating of choice>. |

I mostly look at my own to see which minor-leaguers seem to be overrated. Then I try to trade them.
